Sunnen doesn't (or didn't back when I needed one) offer a probe small enough for the P-310 to measure 5mm guides. At that time, I bought a Diatest split gauge set, too. It's a very good little bore guage. Now Sunnen is offering a GR-5000. Functionally it looks just like the Diatest.

Yes that's right if in your application you are loading the piston from the top of the block.

I would open the valve relief pocket. Not so much from a mechanical clearance stand point, but for intake charge flow.
