Re: Ram induction question

if you look close to under the carbs there appears to be a pipe with rubber hoses clamped to it. If we call it a "common plenum" what is the purpose of it. Ive seen other engines with intake banks separated Then a tube connecting them back together.

Re: Ram induction question

With the Chrysler system were the banks separate or was there a common plenum?

Re: 350 Late model stock car racing engine, oil temps high with great water temps, any help?

I wouldn’t worry with those numbers at all. A wet sump stock car will have a high oil temp over a dry sump or open wheel car. I have seen 320 after a race that went green to checkers on a high bank track. We ran a 8 quart pan with 7 quart 260-270 was normal.

Re: Engine Race Oil

I’ve used Castroil edge in race engines with good results. If it’s working for you I wouldn’t change.

Re: air fuel ratio gauge in circle track cockpit

I tried it. I put the sensor to close to the end of the pipe and it didn’t read correctly.

Re: DIY Car Alignment

Try to lock the steering wheel straight. You don’t want it moving while doing alginments.Roll the car forward or kick the back of the tire to load the suspension as if the car is traveling down the road. Stand back and look at the tires, if the r/f is toed in 1/16 and the l/f is toed in 1/4 if you l...

An over the counter fuel oxgenator Will add some power but hits the point of demising returns with only a few ounces . Trying think out side the box . Re: Engine Oil

I’ve used amsoil on a dirt track. It showed less wear than valvoline and Mobil 1. Reminded me of brad penn in that it leaves a black film in the oil pan.

Re: Circle track 305 & low end torque

I'm working on a oval track motor with a rpm range of 4800 to 6500 peak around 5500.The tuned length headers make the most peak ,but fall off hard after 6000. Because of chassis, they are a bundle of snakes. The short straight headers make more from 6000 to 6500 and are fastest on the track. Your ov...

Re: Why no Ardun hemi head SBC conversion?

Dad drove back in the 50s.Early in his route when he was loaded ,there was a stop sign on a hill.He said you had to alway run it because the truck wouldn’t take off if you stopped. He would kick it in neutral and coast down every hill to keep the motor cool.It had an Allen bolt for a throttle stop. ...

My dad drove a flathead delivery truck way back when. He told some good stories about how underpowered and always running hot they were.

Flowing carbs

We are racing in a stock spec style class. The carb is the restriction in the intake. I have started flowing them at 28 inches. Is the standard for carb flowing at a different depression? With the carb being the restriction should it be flowed at high depression? The head loses 30% of flow once the ...
