Double hump rocker stud
I'm taking a set of double humps to the machine shop. The rocker studs are screw in with out the nut flange to hold the guide plate. Guide plates are not a requirement for this build. Is there any reason to remove these stud and machine for the nut rocker studs.

Re: Voltage to ignition coil
FYI ,I was working on a 460 ford and the voltage at the hei plug was 9.8. While cranking. That was not the problem , but it .ight be why everything has to be perfect for it to start.

Re: Cooling tricks with iron headed hot rods?
Our dirt Cars ran cooler with about 20% anti freeze. Plugging the tstat bypass drilling a couple holes in the tstat helped. Polishing the chamber and piston top on an iron head would even up the hp difference. Themal barriers don't help there.

Re: Resonator placement
That's the muffler I have on my farm truck, everybody complements me on how good it sounds. My c6 corvette had an annoying drone when I got it. I tuned it up , aired the tires up, took some down force out of it. 50% of the drone when away

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?
Brezezinski is known for cheater iron oval track heads. Oval track cars see Temps that street won't be expected to see. For the guides to fall out I would expect the car to be raced at over 250 . We never had our dart heads run any hotter than any other head.

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?
Not familiar with 87 heads but the chamber design would be the deal breaker for me. If it has the small compact chamber like a double hump, vortex, I would use them, if an open chamber nope. I would try to modify a vortec to except that intake. I'm working on a similar style project where I'm trying...

Re: Dry Sump Pan_Moroso SBC
Used similar on my dirt late model. Used The Right Stuff silicone as a gasket. Attached the pan with allen bolts because it was easier to get a long allen wrench threw the access hole than a socket.

I'm going to rollers on all my street motors. What I'm trying to get an ideal on is, if I'm building a stock convertor, daily driver 268/ 216@ .050 is the biggest cam I'm using. If it has some gear an convertor and is a weekend car 282/224 is the range I will be in. 288/230 on a 107 is the biggest w...
