Re: SuperStock 461X 041X Heads and Dyno tests

I suppose your not allowed to use the W shaped or finned intake port floor. Would be a cool way to have fun with the port while complying with the cc rules.

Re: Another reason not to buy Speedmaster shit

Who do you think they will call and tie up on the phone with questions? This is absolutely atrocious.

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?

This sounds like an intake manifold problem build. I have seen my buddy run a stock Ford 93 looking cobra intake, manifold on his 93 cobra. Cut, massively ported runners, shortened welded back up stock to the casual observer. I have seen a Victor Junior intake manifold in a SBF carbureted applicatio...

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?

I believe a well engineered engine that is designed for a particular application can have a MAJOR effect on how the engine performs for that application. Even under 450-500hp levels. I think the custom porting for a given application can have very positive effects on tip in, cruise, bsfc, tq, hp, y...

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?

I really do think you and the goals for this build are the perfect candidate for a do it yourself effort. It wouldn’t be terribly difficult to get 90% of the gain doing it on your own. You’ll never feel the difference driving it around on the street and burning the tread off of the stock type radials.

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?

You mentioned, you are willing to take less money to work on a different type of car to keep things interesting. What about what you are trying to accomplish with your build is supposed to be new and interesting or challenging to the type of people you are attempting to hire? I can’t imagine a cylin...

Re: Vacuum Pumps: Plumbing Arrangement

I have an old aerospace vacuum pump set up I bought used. Ran it with a mild 289 and old school thick rings. Made no difference at the track which wasn’t unexpected. I had the relief valve set for 11 to 12 inches of vacuum. Was told to keep it there to be safe with the wet sump street strip applicat...

Re: Speedmaster block Quality in 2023

Did they ever end up using dowels with the steel main cap to the aluminum block in the small block ford offering? Not too long ago they didn’t. That would be a dealbreaker in my opinion, Lifter Valley was pretty thin as well.

Re: Inexpensive 350 Build

Great job and keep up the good work. I love seeing somebody who doesn’t just build an engine and think they have a race car. You are going to upset a lot of hobby types who do not understand average power and making a car work. Love following along with this and look forward to you continuing to upd...

Re: Anyone been able to reach Isky Cams lately?

I will throw out there I did receive a call from Ed Curtis a while after our business transaction. The guy is an absolute riot on the phone. I can see how people could tie him up just shoot in’ the… 15 minutes later men in black suits showed up, took my phone and deleted the number he called from. G...

Re: Anyone been able to reach Isky Cams lately?

I hired Tobias Aldrate to build my current engine. Between Toby and Mark O’neal (handles the parts side of things) there was no lack of verbal communication as a PAYING customer. It was also incredibly valuable to have Toby and Mark making phone calls that get answered by the right people at compani...

Re: .842 solid roller lifter needle or bushed??

DLC coated I assume... This is what I run. The DLC steel bushing solid roller from BAM. Mine will see Street time, so I wanted durability over every last horsepower. Last engine had needle solid rollers that did fine. If I was class racing, I would go with a needle bearings for every little last bi...
