Re: Valve lash questinn
Since it was brought up earlier about the 365 HP / 375 HP 327's and the 302 Z28 engines.... these had the infamous so called 30-30 Duntov camshaft in it. When Duntov needed to replace the 097 Duntov solid lifter cam that was used on the HI PO 283's and the 340 / 360 HP 327's..... Chevy allowed the n...

Re: ?'s about cams, mileage, etc...
I'm thinking that ISKY cam card is a misprint saying the Supercams are rated @ .020.... the ones I've had experience with were rated @ either .007 or .008 for their hyd cams.

Re: Ported heads, bigger carb for more fuel economy
Gearing and load can have a big impact on fuel economy.....As a real world example a well known west coast Super Gas racer and his buddies were traveling back to Calif from Indy..... 454 crew cab TH 400 and 3.73s pulling trailer and race car.... unknown total weight.....one of the guys noticed some ...

Re: switching from hydraulic to solid cam questions
On my last 327 ( iron Block and Iron Heads ) my cam had a suggested hot lash of .022. I always set them cold and then check to see where it goes when hot. In order for me to achieve the proper .022 hot setting I had to set them @ .024 COLD..... On my last BBC an All Iron 427 the suggested hot lash w...

Re: 427 BB Chevy solid roller camshaft help
A good friend of mine has been using the same cam for nearly 30 years now....it's been in several of his engines and cars both on the street and the drag strip from 427 up to 540 cubes.....will run mid 10's with ease and is super easy on parts.....doesn't kill lifters or require 1,000 lb springs or ...

Re: 426 HEMI STOCK AFB JETTING
I am looking at my old 1979 Carter Performance Catalog and here is what it says: AFB -4430 Rod # 16-341 two step .0685 / .059 , Pri Jet 120-389 , Sec Jet # 120-380 , Needle & Seat # 25-860. The other carb uses staggered jetting and rods. AFB -4431uses Rods 16-543 two step .069 / .054 on the pump...

The " NC " stands for Norton Camomatic.... the type of cam grinder used was an option way back then.

Re: Intake Manifold finish
Way back in the day Clay Smith wrote about testing the polished port theory on a Flathead Ford ....... when the intake ports were polished the engine lost power over a textured finished when talking about wet flow. He said the exhaust seemed to respond to a smoother finish but that was dry flow........

Re: SBC Cam Reccomendation needed
Given the gears and assuming a 24 to 27" tall tire and a dual exhaust I'd stick with a small single pattern cam on a 108 to 110 LSA.The 264 Isky would Joe mentioned would be great and still work with a stock converter...... I once had a 331 with 3.07's with a 218* cam on a 112 and regretted tha...
