Re: LS7 high rpm oil consumption part 2

it is unlikely that there is any oil left from previous time as car was driven at least a 800 mls by now, we took cat out to be sure that nothing is left inside. Looking into tailpipes it is dry inside. I will ask about that tracers. so far except changing to those JE's with a much longer skirt I am...

Re: LS7 high rpm oil consumption part 2

even Mahle themself tell you ring flutter issues wioth new design but also tell you "customer shall change their driving style" ...which is not acceptable. I agree on Mahle being good on any LS type engine and I used many dozens sets of them with great success but no longer believe in them...

Re: LS7 high rpm oil consumption part 2

torque plate hone on a Sunnen, no brush thing job. Twin grid Stones, load, speed and technique we always used in the past based on Sunnen and piston manufacturer requests. They do GT3 race engines for a living and know a thing or two about honing Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche engines. never had a...

LS7 high rpm oil consumption part 2

in my quest to get that high rpm oil consumption demon out of one customers LS7 I have talked to TotalSeal and got a few of their recommended ring sets. Bores got slightly rehoned, rings gapped and installed per their recomendation. When starting up the engine blowby was visibly much less and I was ...

Re: Dual Plenum Intakes aka the Lehmann Style Intake

Heinz Lehmann ist still in busines in Liechtenstein (a very tiny country between Switzerland and Austria) and probably no Audi race engine ever went into service without him having his fingers in them. He also was Walter Roehrls Chief Mechanic in the group B heydays. I have customer who is good frie...

Re: Popping on decel

Yves, I'd use DFCO and high Advance in 40+ too, like done on that LS7 map I mailed you. Just make sure that the lower DFCO threshold isn't set too low or it will "bumpy" when injectors get re-enabled. The transition from DFCO to normal should be smooth which needs a bit trial and error

Re: worn CompCams lobes, ehy?

none of the hydro rollers I have look like the one above. The wheels all look perfectly normal but on some you can feel some resistance when turning them. regarding springs and such, I copy what I have written before. -heads are fully assembled AFR 205cc LS1 cathedral style heads, came fully assembl...

Re: VE question

that's one of the beauties of an ITB. The wildest cams can idle decent and have excellent part throttle response and tremendous midrange torque, I have a cam in a road racing LS7 which won't idle below 1200 with a conventionell throttle body but when changing it to a Harrop ITB I can get it to run a...

Re: worn CompCams lobes, ehy?

Gents, it is not a problem of the lifters, new or used, it is simply a hardening issue or wrong inferior core material where lobes have been ground too far through hardened surface leaving just a crust of hardenend material on the lobes which pits/flakes off over time. So, cheap cores or they ground...

Re: VE question

that was SD as well. Camshaft was not too big and rather a torquer cam. In that setup I used EFI connection components for crank trigger and ran it with an LS1 PCM and direct ignition where the 8 coils have been hidden and disguised in fenderwell. Camshaft position sensor was hid into machined stock...
