Re: Fuel pressure regulator

The common blue Holley regulator is stressed to provide fuel for 450 hp. All the fuel flows through a .250" orifice with a .090 pin in the middle.

Re: Crankshaft knife edge or bull nose leading edge

The aero cranks generally have a bull nose or angled leading edge and knife trailing edge.

If I'm spending on a custom crank, see no reason not to go for it.

Re: 781 BBC Heads

I've angle milled them to 115 cc before getting into the intake valve seats with 2.19 valves. Have to mill the intake side and spot face the bolt seats.

Flat milling probably restrict you to .030 without doing the intake side.

Re: Superflow vs jkm dual flow

What is the JKM dual flow? I have a JKM 600 and haven’t heard about the dual flow.

When new, my JKM had issues with turbulence that was related to the bench itself which I addressed. My flow numbers now match a buddy’s SF 600 on most heads within a few CFM.

Callies Ultra XD rods have the most cam clearance that I've found.

I use the same stuff the engine will be assembled with. Also make the grip length on the torque plate the same as the heads

Other than some YouTube videos, afraid I know nothing of them. Seems the people online are happy with them.

Re: Center bolt to perimeter bolt valve cover conversion adapter

Appears the rockers might have clearance issues too. Wonder about using RTV instead of the gasket between the adaptor and head? Might stop unwanted movement.

Re: small block ford dual plane intake comparison

Joe-71, when you are flowing the intake, is it matched to a head or clamped to the bench? Assume you are flowing one port at a time and the others blocked?

Thanks

Re: center of gravity

Kinda before my time but thought those GMC? front wheel drive motor homes were a good idea. Particularly liked the air bag tandem rear axles, low flat floors, torquey Olds engine and semi-streamlining.

Guess they must of had their faults since they didn’t survive too long.

Re: 351C 2V Opinions / Advice please

For a run around truck with light towing ability, why not keep it as a 351? With a cam, 4barrel carb and mild port work it may surprise you. Avoid the temptation to stuff bigger valves in it. Flat-tops it will make it about 9:1 CR.

Re: Brake shoe fitment

It used to be brake shoes were ground to fit the drums. The brake shoes were clamped in the machine, the arch was set to match the drum and a big sanding roll would remove brake lining from the high spot.

Gauges, I don’t know what you are asking about. Hydraulic pressure gauge?

Re: 351 cleveland destroying caps and rotors

Clevelands, along with many other Fords, have a pad in the block the distributor gear sits on. Many rebuilt and aftermarket distributors don’t get the gear in the right place. The “fix” is to get the clearance correct, drill and pin the gear.

Pretty amazing Ed has it together and functioning at that age!

I shook my head with the fuel being called nitrous, think they meant nitro. The text did it two places. Seemed like a rookie mistake for an automotive author.

Re: Balancing a SCAT SBF 347" - reality check

Those of you who reduce crankshaft counterweight OD, what's your preferred method? Over the years, I've seen: 1. Between centers in a crankshaft grinder 2. Between centers in a lathe 3. Between centers on a mill table Bonus question - What setup does SCAT use to produce those unusual tool marks on ...
