Re: Takata air bags

IMO the number one reason we got air bags, is to prevent the vehicle to be used as a weapon over and over again. With air bag cars, the first hard impact blows the drivers hands off the steering wheel and the vehicle stops--every single time. No more ramming closed gates at speed and keep on going. ...

Re: 2 Stroke Oil Substitution

I recall ages ago in the early 80's I knew a punk who on spite wanted to ruin a 2 stroke engine on some moped he swiped from some kid he hated :? He ran and ran that little bike with the cheapest gasoline sold which was the old leaded 89 octane, after the 3rd tank the engine still seem to be running...

2 Stroke Oil Substitution

I ran outta 2 stroke oil for my snow blower, the snow blowers gas tank is half full and I like to top it up with more gasoline. Would a little bit a tranny oil or motor oil hurt. I'm thinking motor oil might clog the tiny carburetor.....I know I should just get out there and buy some more 2 stroke o...

Using two 500 Carter's on a Mopar 340 with an Edelbrock d 64 man. I Iove it, engine idles great yet screams when needed  Remove both air secondary doors--one gone was nice, both gone are better,so Iong the rpms' are there..3000 staII, 3.90 gears.... 4.30's be better stiII...secondaries were too...

Re: What will it take to make 575 flywheel by 7,500 rpm with

Maybe it can be done but why ? It be cheaper and easier to make 575 HP with a larger engine. Nobody really cares how small or large an engine is, they just care about how fast the car goes

Re: Fast and furious

I'll bet princess Diana wishes she had driven herself too. Just wearing her seatbelt would have saved her life, and she probably would have walk away.. She was sitting in the safest seat in one of the world's safest cars. It took rescuers 2 hours to get Diana to the hospital, the long delay has nev...

Re: Running Methanol Engine Outdoors in Cold Temps

Some cardboard in front of the rad works great in cold temps if the thermostat is too cold or if the engine doesn't have one.

Re: Junker engines punching above their weight

I loved those days. I've also seen things done that worked that you would never think of unless your broke. Engines put together with NO gaskets, milling heads with a hand grinder and a file, I actually saw a guy bore a hole onetime in a block with a homemade extension on an angle grinder and sized...

If GM is not covering the engines for marine use, that tells me the engines are not designed for marine use.

Re: interesting old Weiand manifold - for mopar poly enthusi

Those 360 intakes were to breathe at higher rpms yet still work OK at lower rpm's. I used one on a mopar 318, liked it, pulled very well past 5,500. I did later replaced it with an Edelbrock rpm intake, the rpm seemed better everywhere expect 6,000 and higher, then the Weiand felt better. I left the...

Re: The next big thing - recorded exhaust sounds!

Happen to come across this accident today in lovely Niagara Falls. The truck with the chrome bumper seems to held up OK but look at that car, it "felled" apart from just being rear ended. No sorry, cars from the past--1980 on down-did not fell apart so easily. (never mind the Pinto, that w...

Re: The next big thing - recorded exhaust sounds!

Don't laugh too hard, it just might work. Look how heavy chrome steel bumpers have been replaced by plastic yet the air bags (which still have warning stickers on the sun visors that they can kill or injure children) are now thought to be so much safer-better  Then you got electronic speedo's ...
