Re: Making a muffler
No help, but I do think ganging the pipes together would make it easier to fit a muffler in that tight space.

Re: Most egregious and perverted engine abuse with post mort
I cooked a 250 cylinder head when I was 17 in a 69 chevelle 4 door 3 speed. My buddy and I drove down from Yorkville IL to Springfield IL to visit a relative. About a 4 hour drive. We got bored after hanging out for an hour or so and decided to cruise. Found a nearby backroad and saw a hill crossing...

Re: Most egregious and perverted engine abuse with post mort
A story from my dad. My uncle had a new 69 chevelle 396/375 and cut the mufflers off. The pipes dumped at the gas tank and it caught fire. The insurance company gave him the same new car. He cut the mufflers off, same thing, except no new car this time. More on topic, I once tore down my metro that ...

Re: Noticeable power gain from muffler swap on my DD???
The only good experience I've had with flowmaster is on a bone stock '95 grand cherokee 318. Picked up 2 MPG on the display. I never noticed a performance increase though.

Agreed, Mag, I was trying to gear this towards TFI/HEI/coil pack automotive use. Thanks for backing it up as a superior product though!

Not techincally a product plug as I've never used it before, but I have a tube of this stuff a day out in the post office waiting to heat sink my upgraded CPU in my laptop. Arctic Silver 5. http://www.arcticsilver.com/as5.htm It has real silver in it. In theory it can carry so much more heat away th...

Re: "Frog-Lube"??
IDK even what you are talking about, but frogs are very slippery. Some people gig them with a spiked stick, I like slowly moving in with a light blinding them and grabbing them by hand. Mmmm. Frog legs. Brine the meat for a day or two and it takes away the gamey muddy taste. I can't wait for IL's se...

Re: Gm/Daewoo Sonic RS
I've never seen an engine swap pay for itself in fuel economy savings. Not a swap, I'm looking at buying a Sonic RS to replace my worn out truck and I am just doing research on the driveline before committing. Apparently the RS turbo model has a 6 speed M32 manual that can survive a 400hp Vauxhall,...

From what I've read from teardowns from the tiny turbo block, it was a good collaberation. Iron block, 4v, VVT, turbo, main girdle, windage tray, coated piston skirts.. My S10 is about to hit 250k and I'd like to have mileage similar to my Metro I had years ago. Do you machinists have any qualms abo...

Really from a technical standpoint, the Benz 4/5 cylinder diesels were amazing. Efficient for their time, able to rev to 5000rpm, still reliable and moderately efficient with the pump turned up. All in the 1970's. Look at the GM 6.2. Max RPM 3600.
