Re: hesitation during light throttle acceleration.....750 holley

Old thread with a request for solution, here is what I did. I found an old holley 750 center pivot carb in the shed from a 400ci ford truck motor. I was told it ran like a striped ape. Go figure a 750 holley on a 400 truck motor. I duplicated this carb on a new holley hp series carb and my 351 and ...

Re: Holley HP750 T slot not long enough

That worked pretty good. Maybe beginners luck. Just relieving the area around the slot which is .025 wide is plenty without going into the upper deck or face of the blade, 30 or 45 degree bevel. Adjusted the center air bleed to the middle and opened it up just a little when first started but see it ...

Holley HP750 T slot not long enough

Trying to get this thing to idle low enough on a SBF, with the primary just showing a square or less t slot and the secondary near closed and the center air holes shut off it would idle where it should. I think some of the problem is running manifold advance but that works nicely and there is nowher...

Re: Edelbrock AVS2

Wow....only 30 years behind Holley with this “new” booster.... And 60 years ahead of Holley making a carb that doesn't leak and doesn't warp. And how many years behind the ford factory fit autolites!!?? But who cares really, these carbs are on the shelf now, they are not too expensive and they work...

Re: Edelbrock AVS2

Anyone try the new AVS2 with annular boosters? Yes only 1 as yet , on a mild street 351SBF. Worked spot on OOTB with just an idle mix and speed tweek. Drives really well and plugs look nice but will be fitting a wide band o2 soon so will get another look at it then. I'm looking at doing this carb o...

Re: 408 SBF with AFR’s latest 220 cnc heads – what power?

Don't think prolonged sitting is reason for seal leaking, or maybe it is. I pulled the engine and reinstalled a 351 FMS engine, I was needing something a little more pleasurable and long distance to drive, able to fill up at any local station. The Vizard engine is on 107 separation, departing from i...

Re: 408 SBF with AFR’s latest 220 cnc heads – what power?

Update Have an annoying rear main seal leak so the engine is out and getting a reseal. Only changes from the dyno are Holley 750HP and a Vic Jr intake. Me and the neighbor had it out the other day and took it for a romp. The road has a pretty new chip and seal so traction was good which helps with t...

Re: Dry Sump - where to plumb gauge for reading vacuum?

Peterson makes the parts, I put a vacuum regulator on one valve cover http://www.petersonfluidsys.com/engine-vac-VacRegulator.html , and a pop off on the other http://www.petersonfluidsys.com/engine-vac-OneWayPopOff.html , with the pop off I also drilled a small hole in the disc inside, so the pump ...

Re: Dry Sump and new to the dry sump game

There are some really good points here. You do get what you pay for, listen to strangemagic! You are already into the setup for whatever price, so how much more to go top notch? That is the way I always justify it:) I did race a 66 stang a little, it was a fastback k code, wish I hadn't sold it for ...

Re: How much hp can a factory 351W block handle?

The 408 engine I bought from DV that saw dyno time and made a little over 600 hp was a factory block, checked the main cap studs, at 85# there was some turning on enough of the studs to make me think the block was inadequate...... think it was an 80's block.
