Re: Sbc Iron performance cyl heads

Every thing I ever bought from RHS was perfect out of the box. I have been thinking about getting a new set of heads from them. Will probably be in the 210 cc size.

If you are using the factory heads remember from the factory they are non adjustable rockers. Not sure of how much lift you can run with that?

Fixing a cam?

I have a BBC solid roller with one damaged lobe. Not real bad but ground down some. How much does it cost to repair this? Or is it better to buy a new one?

Re: Trying to salvage a 400 sb with Dish pistons.

Looks pretty matched up to me. I would run the rpm air gap intake. Might run mid 12's. Maybe faster  . It will eat tires that is for sure.

Any reason to not just run a quality Hydraulic flat tapped? Set the valves then forget it. no matenance. The old 268 comp cam is great.

Re: Sbc 400 vs 415 vs 427?

I would like to build a 434 or 454 sbc using the stock block kept at 5500 rpm's or less. I am kind of a block and head casting purist. A 454 sbc will pull a open trailer easy.

Mercury cruiser heads?

I found a great deal on a set of 350 heads like new. $150. Is there any thing different about them to look for before putting them on my truck?

I do not think you will get much results going to more stroke unless your car is heavy. If heavy I would build as big a SBC as your budget allows. :D

12 Bolt Posi Rear?

I have a Chevelle 12 bolt posi with 373 gears in it. I put new bearings , races. and new clutches in the posi differential. I shimmed the clutch packs up as tight as I could. Now the car is hard to push. It will spin both sides all the time. Should I take the posi back out and put more clearance in ...
