Re: Max Horse Power for Ford 302 block
cap walk is the killer, they all break at the main bolt holes and the crack walks to the cam tunnel the the lifter valley.

Re: 347 SBF Street Build
I have never seen a street 347 make 500 HP with a hyd roller- Most of my street 347 engines with a 236 hyd roller and AFR heads can only make in the 470-480 horsepower. JOE SHERMAN RACING ENGINES Dont know what to tell you really, but it aint hard and its done all the time. Maybe need a different h...

Re: 347 SBF Street Build
Main studs are mandatory in my opinion, less cap walk and cap walk is what breaks these blocks at the main bolt holes. Simple to make 500 with a small hyd roller.

Re: 351c scat procomp crank balance?
Unless the bobweight is very light it will need alot of mallory. All scat cranks for the ford are 28oz ext cranks based on archaic target bobweights.

Re: 351 windsor main bearings
Full groove are horrible, depending on the year of the block, grab a set of clevite 1432 P or H

Re: OS OD cam bearings in Ford SBF 302
The blocks are a dime a dozen. The only time I have ever seen a cam bearing walk out is when the block is cracked. I have machined over 1000 of these block in the last 7 years, throw it out and grab another. The cracking issue is only on roller windsor blocks as well.

Re: older stewart warner balancer with drill is it possible?
I had a pro bal that had a mill that slid on two horizontal rails. BIGGEST pile of crap I have ever used. The rails were not sturdy enough to start a hole on a steel crank. On a cast crank it was ok. You would put some force on the mill and it would just rise up because the rails would bow. I bought...

Re: RHS dropping iron heads
While it may be large, the only folks I ever see runnning iron heads are chevy roundy round guys, nearly zero ford guys. I havent used a set of aftermarket irons in what seems like decades. Its all but over in the ford world, but everyone caters to chevy so they dont care about ford guys lol

Re: Forged Eagle crank and forged h beam rods.
I refuse to use eagle, no thanks. Told to me over the phone by them, they require there outside grinding source to keep .0005 taper and out of round or under for acceptance. Trash, others love them.

Yep that would be clevite, consistency? Nah Just loosen up the clearances and your troubles are gone lol. The thrust bearings for small block fords = disaster 50% of the time

Re: Dial bore gauge
I use outside mitutoyo mics and and a light spring .0001 increment teclock bore gauge and this has proven to me in 1000's of bearing measurements. It makes life easier since I only build 2 types of engine, so if something pops up that doesnt seem right, its easy to diagnose. You get to know certain ...

Re: Production 302W: overbore wall thickness minimums
I just dump the blocks, sleeves in 50 dollar roller blocks is silly in my opinion. I have access to 100's and 100's of these blocks at any given time. Not worth the effort, the sleeve cost and then try explaining to a customer why it has a sleeve when the blocks are a dime a dozen. Now the mexican b...

.150 but a 347 making 400 hp its a non issue. These blocks dont have a cylinder issue, just go to 4.030 and motor on
