It is can be pretty common on a larger intake volume.

Re: 18* port break through

How can you say its too big, too say that obviously you measured it right. ? What is the speed doing there ? A 436 engine demand can need more air than that head can probably flow . :)

Re: Weber Emulsion Tubes

You need to look at getting yourself a REAL book on Weber Carburettors that will tell you how they work. I doubt it will happen with some one relaying the messages on a type writer. Not being rude to you but by what you have already said I don't think you know how they work. The circuts are much mor...

Duckworth was well ahead of most cam designers in the late 1950's Ahead of most "Euro" cam designers, maybe, but he wouln't have made the top 5 in the U.S. Winfield was light-years ahead of him. You also have remember that Phil Irving and the Repcos , and Merv Waggotts 2 Litre motors both...

According to my maths you would need about a Bmep of 15 or about 109 % ve at 9000 rpm. It also needs about 170-175 cfm. ) The Lightweight car of John Lefflers wa...

Re: Mini A-Series Cam Grinders

I also see Mr Hoffman with quite some miss information, one think I did notice worth mention in the engine builder/part supplier he mentioned referring to 1275/1293 motors making 150+. That is a gain in over 8 to 10 BHP but it has taken from the 142 we used to see in around 1970 in Brian Foley's and...

Re: How to size a valve to port

[quote="Erland Cox"]It depends on valve shrouding. On a 2 valve head you can either use 50% of the bore size or the port diameter / 0.86. If the second calculation gives you a valve bigger than 50% of the bore use 50% as long as the shrouding is OK. A very good head can use even bigger int...

Your lack of knowedge only shows ignorance. On the same crank 2 different rod lenghs show the same piston speed. Only to You.

To many unknowns. Compression, heads ported or not? Oiling system? cam/valvetrain, what intake? It could be done IMO. Absolutly, its not out of line with the 350 Vortecs I done heads for some years ago for a class in south ga. BHP at 262 ci in 1.6.♦ " Calculators don't work properly. " ??...

( What are the consequences of pairing the WRONG cylinders on a header ) that is how most people do it so there would'nt be a noticeable difference. How ever if you understand what will make the difference it will produce more power if you assemble the primary in the correct manner. The collector is...

Re: 381 small block build

Why stop at a 406? If it were me I would dump the small block all together. Build a 632, after all they are well suited for a mild street strip type engine, plenty cheap to build a 632. Can anyone notice my sarcasm? OP I posted a thread very similar to this a while back because I too ran across a g...
