Re: Anti-seize on spark plugs with aluminum heads?
Aircraft piston reciprocating engines probably have one of the most engineered spark plug designs. As a matter of fact, aircraft Iridium plugs were available decades before they were used and available for automotive use. Still, even the aircraft spark plugs have Nickel plating in the threads to pre...

Re: Shout out to Mike Jones 2!!
You cannot compare a limited rule Super Stock class engine to a fully developed, high-budget NASCAR engine. One of the few that has spent most of his career in NASCAR, but also understands Stock and Super Stock Class Eliminator engines is Warpspeed (Jay), and I do not see him spouting ignorance. See...

Re: AN vs 45 degree fittings
I have never double flared fuel lines for carb systems, maybe it's necessary for higher pressure injection systems? "AN" and "JIC" are obsolete terms. They've both been replaced by different SAE standards. But the concept is the same--one is "aerospace" grade, and the ...

Low wages for Missisippi ? It depends on the job. I oversee and manage a Quality and Engineering organization for one of the largest military equipment suppliers in the USA. All products we provide are made in the USA and can only be shipped through US-based carriers. We just opened an 80K sqft dis...

Re: Very visual rod ratio video
It depends. What rod stroke ratio is an NHRA 500 ci engine engine running? On a "v" engine as opposed to an inline engine one needs to look at deck height and how this effect intake runner length. Stan Here is some interesting discussion on rod ratios. In my past discussions at the track ...

Re: Stock 350 Olds EFI intake manifold
The Oldsmobile 350 EFI has been very competitive in NHRA Stock Eliminator with Bob Shaw with the car running mid 13's in the 1/4 mile. In Stock Eliminator you have to retain the original intake and throttle body. The are other racers that run the engine in Super Stock class going very fast in the 1...

Re: dropped base air cleaner
You want to remove the holley carb choke horn on all of the aftermarket version holleys. The old OEM muscle car holleys had a shorter choke horn height and different down leg boosters. The aftermarket holleys all have the taller choke horn. Cut it off or upgrade to the HP style centerbody. (no chok...

With such a small chamber at 50cc's, you do not need that much timing. I would not go higher than 32 degrees.

Re: Super Stock Dyno Pull
Some of the fastest and most powerful SBC Super Stock engines in the country are built by John Gulius. You pay a premium for his engines, but they are very fast and competitive. However, he never gives out a dyno sheet or numbers no matter what you are paying and it is part of the deal. John will as...

Re: Ford 302 tunnel port cylinder head
Ford always wanted to reinvent the wheel... instead of refining and improving what they already had. They would come out with things like the Tunnel Port, SOHC, Boss 429, etc... while all their regular engines wheezed with asthma. Their boutique engines would generally need plenty of tweaks to surv...
