Re: Carb Tuning: IAB and Transition
1.75 turns out on all four corners is a lot of fuel at idle and not typical imo. How did you come to that setting? Vacume guage? Highest rpm? Or monitored air fuel ratio?

Re: Solid roller spring suggestions please
Without the rocker ratio, no one can make an intelligent recommendation. 1.5 ratio on intake and exhaust. Mike, also would you take a stab at what a safe valve lash would be? Thanks Since there's no way to know how aggressive the lobe profiles are, I would go with the ISKY 9935 springs without the ...

Re: Solid roller spring suggestions please
I have run the PSI 1277 springs for years and been happy with them. I just upgraded to a PSI 1.30" diameter spring looking for better stability in the valve train to turn 8000rpm. The springs are not much more expensive but I had to get a custom set of retainers from xledyne which were expensi...

Solid roller spring suggestions please
I have an unknown solid roller cam we are going to try in my Son's sbc 377. Cam specs are 298@.020 266@.050 .445 lobe on the intake, 306@.020 268@.050 .420 lobe on the exhaust. Thinking the shift will be at 7500. 11/32 2.08 / 1.6 stainless valves. We have a rev kit. I have no idea what valve springs...

Re: Chevy 193 Swirl port Mission Impossible
I enjoyed all of it! My son and I built a swirl port special a few years back that runs way harder than it should. Some mild port and chamber work, 1.6 exhaust valves, hyd roller cam, 9.3 compression, headers, rpm intake, 4180 hoĺley. Now after seeing Charlie's testing I've got some ideas to make it...

Big numbers from a stock unported airgap intake... if the 4150 supported all the airflow the engine needed with that intake then it must have been a jigher quality of a...

Re: SBC Oil Filter: 2024's Options?
I've seen the stock Chev oil bypass stuck partially open with pieces of valve seal material. A buddy had thar happen, no idea how long that engine was flowing unfiltered oil. Running only the internal filter bypass might have saved that engine?

Re: Main bearing spacers and oil clearance questions
.003" with .004" on #5 is no problem and you will have zero issues. Just curious why you dont have the oil pump bolted on when checking. Bolt it on and watch the cap move. Surprised none of the other experts didn't notice. Thanks for the reminder on the oil pump! I know you are supposed t...

Re: The truth on bowl sizing
I haven’t seen much benefit in increasing bowl volume. I’m curious about those who have. Does it help the short turn? Good question. If the flow is good at .600 but goes backwards at .650 lift on the flow bench will it do the same thing on a running engine if the velocity is lower in real world? I ...

Re: Main bearing spacers and oil clearance questions
Were the spacers bought or made from 400 bearings? Does the main size give the spacers sufficient crush, and does the spacer id give the bearing shells sufficient crush? I would rather see them on the tighter side (.0025 1-4 and .0030 on 5 at least) but it will be fine the way it is. Although not t...

BillK, put the feeler Guage between the journal and bearing or between the cap and bearing?
