There should be a cast date code on the underside. Possibly hidden by the sheet metal baffle.
Depending on the probability of sale, I may have a look.
IIRC, it came off of a 90's era ZZZ crate engine. That would explain the differences you described.
That follows seeing that there's still a ZZZ (in modified form) in the fleet still. A curious question: originally the snowflake represented the Winter's foundry if I have my facts straight. For nothing more than to satisfy my wanting to know, would that foundry having manufactured this manifold or ...
This has been in my stash for 30 years. Aluminum dual plane. Cast in but not drilled oil filler tube boss. Snowflake logo. Divider with slight cast in relief between plenums (1/8th -3/16ths). 14044836 brings up all sorts of hits but most reference the LT1/Z28 intake years ago. This certainly isn't t...
Was TPI (OBD1 from 91 Camaro) for 20 years. I'm guessing that's why you had asked at TGO. Certainly makes sense in that there are at least a few TPI knowledgeable folks there. Unfortunately, at least in my experience, there are very few carburetor tech savvy people there. Such is the way. Don't get...
Good Morning. Just joined. Question, instead of guessing and trial and error, what to change to smooth out the AFR from Idle up to Primary Jet kicks in? (cruising around). Smaller IFR and larger IAB? Either will lean than section however, the slope will be slightly different between the two. I see ...
I see the same thing when trying open spacers on dual planes, usually EGT's even out a bit and it's worth a few HP. I imagine it could be an endless series of testing for various builds and intake layouts. Would you say the same would apply to a dual plane with the divider cut down? Something like ...
There's such an abundance of information pouring through this thread that I hope my friend will visit (and register) and engage the lot of you. Once I'm back in my "office" I'll look a little deeper into all of these replies. My best recourse will to compare this compares to how my own BG ...
I've got a few books on carb tuning plus whatever experience I could through into the mix. Somewhere, in a book by Emanuel or Vizard or somebody was a diagram of the circuits involved and how they interact. I'll dig those out if and when I have the chance. I'll probably direct him to this thread so ...
Best way to find out is change it yourself and see what happens. Keep notes so you don't lose track of what size bleed or jet does/did/might do whatever. I have a fairly good grasp on the cause and effect. Witness how my own (previous) large cammed 355 ran and cruised. Your suggested approach is ex...
Interesting topic to me. I *think* larger IAB starts reducing the idle circuit fuel a little sooner, so you have less overlap with the main system. Conversely, a smaller IAB would extend the range of idle fuel to overlap the main system a bit more. I am looking forward to hearing what the forum car...
The PCV valve is a functional critical part of this system. If the PCV lacks flow the adr will be richer.. A hair more pcv flow tweeks the afr. Can save you a lot of drilling etc. I've been down that PCV rabbit hole before. For such a simple thing it can have a significant impact on many aspects on...
While I understand the function of the IAB and have worked on it tuning my Barry Grant, a fellow car guy has asked a question that I can't say I know how to answer. Or even what's being asked. Quoted: AED 950HO on ZZ502. Tuning the transition slot running a bit rich at cruise. The options are reduci...
Reading this with interest in that I've experimented quite a bit with my Barry Grant VS 750. I've tuned for a lean cruise. 16:1 at 2500 RPM (Locked in OD). While you've obviously worked with the PV seeing as it's a 10.5, could there be some weirdness going on with the valve at the 3000 RPM cruise an...
Years ago with a 500hp 383 combo with my 9" 4200 rpm converter I was running 11.4s @ 123mph A week later I run with a new 8" converter and picked up 3 tenths in the 60ft which carried incremental entire run but was down nearly 2mph. 11.10 @ 121.30mph A few guys said converter slip but I j...
As you know Kevin there is a cross over point with rear gear etc as in a weekend cruiser and we have to keep it real as well. Which puts me in a bit of a dilemma. Do I morph towards more track orientated and go faster? Or forgo the ever increasing cost of fuel and continue to drive it a street car ...
