Re: 1150 pro syatems dominator question

Obviously we would need the serial number to determine what carb it really is. We build an 1100 and a 1200 so you are in the middle somewhere. But using a 88 jet in the front with a power valve AND a 88 jet in the rear with a power valve plug is a definite no-no. If its in fact a 1200 carb, we have ...

Re: Billet Metering Blocks vs "Standard " Holley Blocks

Porosity is pretty rare, but it does happen...but its rare. Billet blocks these days are about just fine tuning port locations and angles. Moving things around a little to improve the layout and response time. Its just builders perfecting the design. We build our VENOM blocks in our own shop and on ...

Re: fuel pressure== jet change

If you run higher pressures (to a point) you maintain a higher float level in the bowl under a load. This higher float level makes it easier for the fuel to lift out of the bowl (over the dam) and into the venturi and makes the carb able to draw more fuel at the same vacuum reading. Emulsions can ef...

Re: NHRA partnering with Sunoco

There is some truth in that dollar deal. We approached NHRA a few years back to attempt to get our SV1 legal in Pro Stock. The Rep did some research and called me back with reports from Top Dragster guys about the SV1 carbs running 1.5-2 mph faster and that they were already concerned as mph was alr...

Re: Blow thru carbs

Most blow thru carbs are in the $890.00 range (from our shop) so they are much cheaper than EFI. Blow thru builds can be tricky, be it carb or EFI, but most of the time a good blow thru carb builder has them dialed in close enough that you are not starting from scratch on your tune up and are simply...

Re: How NOT to store a Carb

If you would, fill out one of our Online Quote/Order forms. We do many of these per day and its puts your info in a more usable format and easier for us to reference/review your data to come up with a plan for you. Then just E it in and I'll e you back after I review your program. We cut/paste and c...

Re: How NOT to store a Carb

I keep my spare race carbs in the baggie and loosely APART. Fog the shafts, but the gaskets typically don't shrink like they used to and be sure to allow any fuel traces to disperse before bagging it. Then when you need it, tighten everything up, the gaskets will have a nice fresh "crush" ...

Re: Engine Idea...What do you think?

These guys are just trying to help you Mark. I didnt read your name to know that you were the original poster or I would've stayed out of it, but my advice on going to a Dominator is sound. I would follow it. It will be more consistent AND have better mph and thats what you want in a T/Stop program.

Re: Engine Idea...What do you think?

A 4150 will definitely hinder that program, I would move away from the 1000 based 4150 for sure. In four barrel carbs a 2" throttle blade Dominator will wake that combo up (by 15-25 more h.p.) AND be more consistent than the 4150. I would make it around 1080 cfm with the 2" blade under it.

Re: Willy's Super Bowl (no needle and seat)

There is a much simpler way to do that. We built a set quite a few years ago for an off shore boat that had a very high fuel demand. You could adjust the float height and we used a standard holley bowl with no floats, no needle and seats and only slight mods to the bowl. Visit our facebook page for ...

Re: Emulsion Part 2

Walter, we messed with that, but what you actually wanted to do was have the hole inline smaller so that the fuel would go around the channel to fill the other side faster. It then made it kick more fuel to that far side after it filled the hoop, so that was a no go. Then we messed with channel size...

Re: Emulsion Part 2

USMC SPIKE RE: Small diameter annulars - We were testing this concept for a set of Pro Stock carbs many years ago for Dodge. We first tried it on 4150 carbs and built several different small 4150 series annular boosters that mounted inside the hoop of a dog leg booster. What we found in engines with...

Re: Is $200,000.00+ for an engine to much?

The NHRA has no problem working suppliers for money. I contacted the NHRA to get the SV1 carbs legal as they are LESS than HALF the price of a set of Pro Stock carbs. I was shocked to find out that the BUY IN to get the SV1's legal in the class was going to cost about $50,000.00 With only 20 teams c...
