Not sure if you are already addressing this but in an earlier life I was a Renault fanatic and had/have references for support struts and rubber manifold joints etc. (ala Gordini).

If you check out the citations you can drill down and explore topics. However, one large limitation is your budget. Many references have a paywall, like SAE....

Briefly, it appears that a decomposition product of a typical moly additive is both ferromagnetic and has a tan to brown appearance.
