Re: BBC EFI Intake Manifold and camshaft timing
Its like the short runner LT1 90’s small blocks. They make super flat torque curves just not super high peak numbers. They always seemed to respond well to tight lsa, seen a lot of them 107-110 lsa. I think same thing with your bbc, something tight lsa and it should be broad torque curve just wont m...

Re: valve spring debate: conical vs std duals vs beehives
It may get 7400-7500 shifts with the 235’s if you cam it right but i agree. Afr 245 or something else bigger is needed for peaks closer to that

Re: valve spring debate: conical vs std duals vs beehives
Assuming average valve weights, and moderate cam acceleration rates, I would go with a dual endurance spring like the Isky #9995 made by PSI, or the PSI CT-1539-ML installed at 1.950" No need to get exotic with only .730" lift, and 7,500rpm Who makes retainers for psi springs? Their websi...

Re: valve spring debate: conical vs std duals vs beehives
Now i have run a single conical to .740 ish net lift on a roller in my turbo bbc. It seemed to work. Scary tho, thinking 150 gram intake valves goin to 7200 rpm on 135 lbs seat and near 500 open. I couldnt tell any signs of issues in valvetrain, as the rpm pull was smooth. Dyno numbers were solid to...

Re: Broken valvspring.
Mine was closer to .020-.030 to bind. Actual bind was abit less than advertised so my calculated .040 was not accurate. Also likely very minimal for the job at hand and honestly not sure they worked as good as i thought

Was it the same valve location as before or different?

Re: Broken valvspring.
I just had a 7256 conical fail just like that. Just over 2 yrs old but only couple hundred miles. Limited street strip car, had dozen or more dyno pulls, a bunch of 1/8 mile passes, lot of time on rev limiter two steps for turbo spool. Broke at idle thankfully. Im looking to go dual conical or somet...

Re: BBC EFI Intake Manifold and camshaft timing
It will behave like any other carbed intake in that runner length will change the shape of the torque curve Depends on the rest of the combo if 2.8 inch gonna work or not? Do you have or know someone with Pipemax? How long is the head runner? Which heads and how much rpm is desired? I like the victo...

Re: E85 Safe/Max Dynamic Comp Ratio
[ Is the restriction in the blower, intake or the engine? It seems when you read articles or talk to cam companies they always suggest these small dur cams. We have saw many times that opening intake side longer let's in larger dense charge. Boost goes up and so does power, look how rpm effects powe...

Re: E85 Safe/Max Dynamic Comp Ratio
It is absolutely irrelevant to build a engine by dcr number or cranking compression numbers. It means nothing in a continual rpm changing engine. So is common thought a higher cranking number is better ,or going to make more power? In my procharger deal at 2500 plus hp and 30 lbs of boost we had a ...

Re: Help identify bbc exhaust valve
An Inconel valve will be magnetic on one end about halfway on the stem and non magnetic on the other end. Hiya, Manley's are that way, 2 piece "welded". Ferrea and others are not. Just fyi. I don't know if the inconel valves are welded. What I do know per Manley is that all Inconel valves...

Re: E85 Safe/Max Dynamic Comp Ratio
image~2.jpgAnd here is plugs with 33 lbs boost and 25 deg timing. As you can see I got greedy. If my pistons were not contoured and edged I would of lost these 3 holes. LOL,yep,a tad toasty. It's fixed now, I expect we will be able to run near 40 lbs of boost now. I made a cam change on the ex vent...

Re: E85 Safe/Max Dynamic Comp Ratio
Run it on One Ethanol R or similar. Much better and consistent ethanol I buy drums of anhydrous E98 and blend to 85. Not going to get much more consistent than that. I never use pump e85. One R is suppose to be blended with high octane components. Some well known ultra high hp viper tuners say its ...
