Re: What was Chevrolet thinking ?

Read on Another forum gm changed to the smaller 208/221 cam after Hotrod showed them it could make same power and idle better and get better mpg. The heads were basically 113 L98’s and the zzz cam was just too big. Not sure why they thought that was a good idea unless it was for chop idle sound

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

Yeah i had a 267/272 on a 114 and now a 254/259 on a 109. Granted its a turbo car but street cruise alot. It is heavy at almost 4000 lbs and no overdrive but th400 with 3.00 gear. They make same power basically but the smaller cam feels better and spools sooner but both were streetable and fine in 5...

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

Yes sir. I have read a bunch of his posts in different Forums. Had a chance to talk with him before he passed, after his stroke. Great man. Thanks but I wont get another custom grind on 112. I will just use the new one I have on my shelf that I talked about earlier. Heck, it may surprise me to be a...

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

Yes I was aware that the cam u have is the 502A5lun cam... Unfortunatly Harold has now passed. When looking fir a new better street cam for you my instinct was to go for the milder 502A3 lun UDharold street strip cam. Its also a UDharold Ultradyne cam.. (now offered by Lunsti) But I'd really like y...

Re: From a solid roller to hydraulic roller

My current cam is VERY torquey, just in the wrong RPM range. It wants to spin to 7000+, even in a 540. You said it peaked at 6100? Thats about right, its not wanting to go to 7000 plus. About same size cam as mine in my 555 except i have more lift and its on a 109 lsa. Very streetable but mine is p...

Re: 128 my take, anybody see it like this ?

LSA is something you end up with. It's not a parameter you design for. If you learned about engines, working on double overhead cam engines, you wouldn't even know what LSA is. Exactly. Obviously other parameters are more important than just focusing on lsa. Like koenigsegg freevalve engine, doesnt...

Re: 128 my take, anybody see it like this ?

It’s unfortunate the catalog cams never seem to come in under 110 lsa. Can find some under that but much more limited than the 110-114 lsa cams out there. So sucks the program gives you 104-108 lsa stuff and you still have to get it custom ground if there are cores available for that tight lobe sep...

Nope. That could be; 100ICL and 114ECL 105ICL and 109ECL 107ICL and 107ECL 109ICL and 105ECL Etc All would run completely different. Guys, we’ve been through this a million times here and many have of you have been around long enough to see this discussed many of those times. Yes. But now you've th...

Re: 540 bbc procharged issues

Cam seems massive but with that head size i guess you want to turn alot of rpm? 100 psi makes sense cranking with flat tops and that much cam. Either way it sounds like possible fuel tune up at idle, and def needs some timing. Sounds like a good application for port efi Check cam timing with degree ...

Re: New type Engine Rev Limiter

Might just be a soft limiter with timing retard and the rpm on off times set close together? Thats how i do my turbo car. Holley efi soft limiter. The timing table around the limiter rpm starts dropping as boost starts building, further lighting up the turbo. Want full timing to get on converter to ...
