Re: Resonator placement
Well I was honestly thinking of that as well, but I’m worried that the drone is just a characteristic of the engine. It happens at a very specific rpm range The drone is a resonance within the muffler tuning (baffles) based on RPM. I had a 89 Mustang GT that had Walker Super Turbos and the drone wa...

Re: Sbc Dart SHP rear main leaks
There is a different seal for this block. had the same issue and my engine builder replaced the seal with the correct one and no leaks. Standard GM seal work. Don't know the part number but the GM seal was blue and the seal that works is red if memory serves correct. This is a 400 block

Re: Resonator placement
what about just changing out the mufflers for UltraFlows or a similar type of muffler. I just installed Flowmaster FX's on my Camaro and they're not to bad drone wise. They are on the loud side though. They typically make little to no drone and it's an easier swap than trying to fit resonators that ...

Re: Sanity Check On My Build
The TKO600 will make it an easy driver but I think you might want more gear with that cam. I run 4.10's in my Camaro and it's the minimum I'd run with my 427. I'd say build it for max power, use a carb, gear it up and have fun. I'd also recommend a Tunnel Ram but that's more an addiction issue I have.

Lunati Voodoo 20120713 Hydraulic Roller .560/.565" lift 243/251 duration @ .050'' 110 lsa 2800-6800 rpm range Don't waste your time and money with todays flat tappet cams. I run this cam in my 406. Great cam but low vacuum caused me problems with self learning efi. Switched back to carbs and r...

Re: Cam Recomendations for a 383 SBC
My understanding is that cams with “tight” LSA’s(more overlap) can create tuning challenges with EFI. Just something to consider. Thats always been misinformation. If its' a self learning type based on vacuum a tight LSA with low vacuum can cause it to run on the rich side. Wider LSA such as 114 de...

Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno
I've got a smaller cam, bigger heads and I made 540 hp and 525 tq so I'll say 250 hp and 300 tq...but the dyno probably wont register that low lol, so 550hp and 525tq

Re: Small Port Vortec head benefits over other heads?
I've got a hopped up 350 with Vortec heads and a dual quad set up in a big ol 83 Pontiac Parisienne 4 door and whatever GM did in the engineering on these head, they flat out work. Paid $200 for a set of used and all I did was a 3 angle valve job. Having said that, I had had a set of Vortec's and AF...

A fuel pressure gauge might help determine if the car is running out of fuel during the run.

As a guy who owns 3 cars with dual carbs (2 with TR's) I'm curious if this got sorted out and if so what the fix was.

Re: Chevy 327 Tunnel Ram Idling To Fast When Started
Throttle cable too tight? Base idle set screw not backed off on both carbs?--in other words set the idle on one carb not both so one idle screw needs to be backed off totally. Idle mixture screws not set properly? Really need more info. I have two cars with TR's and another with dual carbs on a RPM ...

Re: Lunati Voodoo Hydraulic Roller ?
That’s the one i’m interested in. What are the specs on the valve springs and how high does it hold the power in your 406 ? It's been almost 10 years since I had this engine built and can't remember the spring spec but they are beehive springs. Pulls hard to 6500 rpm, would pull more but that's whe...

Re: Loud Exhaust
My experience with DynoMax Super Turbos is that that made a lot for drone. This was in a new 89 Mustang GT. Right at cruise rpm, like 1800 rpm or so it was really loud inside, quiet outside. I use Walker Ultra Flows on all my cars now. The Camaro and Beaumont dump before the axle, so they are loud o...
