Re: Porsche 993 twin turbo

I have always had the thought that these engines would be great for e85 conversion. Idk if that’s a viable option but it certainly takes care of the heat issue and probably still allow a nice bump in compression. The other limiting factor is the k16 turbos, their is a good bit of wiggle there but so...

Re: Site issues

I obviously don’t post much here but if and when I do the only time I have a problem is with the Face ID on mobile app and forgetting to click the box to stay logged in. If I post, I find I can’t see thread pics, or post again cuz logged out.

Re: Exhaust diameter change when switching from gasoline to ethanol

I have heard to size a port approx 8-10 percent bigger when switching to E85 or Meth, so seems logical the exhaust would follow, but the temps are so much lower it kills that side of it. So then, would primary length, collector length or it’s positioning need a change as well?

Re: Enginelabs has a semi deep dive on the zz623

My takeaway from that link is LOL at trying to push a 4l60 based trans to last behind the engine. 1 not going to happen with any regularity of actually using the engine and 2 no need for the huge 1-2 shift with all that power…

Re: Makita GDO800C

Honestly didn’t look at any of the specs, just happened to find it looking at some woodworking vids, and remembered I had a link to something similar. I saved the link on my phone in case i couldn’t remember the name or even what to call it lol. Very good points you brought up though. I wouldn’t dou...

Re: Makita GDO800C

Rebel was still reading when this came to mind, seems it’s similar to the Foredom unit. Would be interested in any feedback on how they work. I had seen one of these used on YouTube ls1 head porting vid, seemed to work quite well. https://www.woodcarverssupply.com/1_2-HP-MASTERCARVER-BENCHTOP-BASIC-...

Re: GM LS 6.0 Sleeve Repair ??s

Was wondering, and just throwing this out there since it is directly related to the Melling sleeves. Has anyone used the bigger 4.00 sleeve in the smaller 5.7 blocks? I believe the flange was the same or only a few thousandths different if memory serves. I just thought it would be a cheap alt for th...

Re: 6.0 Silverado tq build

Small turbo. Honestly this. Throw in new rings, get a Huron Speed or ON3 kit and a tc76 or 78. It’s not a great matched turbo for all out power and small for a 6.0 but for dd, response and reasonable power (6-700 whp) they are probably one of the better units. Or get a TVS/Whipple/Maggie supercharg...

Re: 6.0 Silverado tq build

You can read dyno comparisons for days on the LS. Here is a cam swap and shows TQ gained and lost with different cams. Click on show all under the specs of each one. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/ls-cam-test-comparison/ Here is a head test that will make you think differently about heads. https:/...

Re: 1400 hp Big Chevy combinations

Right. To me 9:1 is low compression. 9:1 is pump gas boost. E85 can do 10:1 easily. We have e85 guys over 10:1 on 20+ psi making near if not over 2000 flywheel I like the challenge. I havent seen a factory bbc block pushed. But i assume they have to be pretty decent with good machine work and caps/...

Re: 1400 hp Big Chevy combinations

Just copy this guys build it’s pretty cheap if you piece it out used and it proved durable. Use the 427 and sell the S488 or trade for one you want in twins, any of twin VSR S480, Borg S475 or the China 78/7675 turbos will do, then all you need is a comparable head, cam, turbo headers/logs and piece...

Re: Why does 400" always win the EMC?

There's a reason almost all modern OEM engines are very nearly square. If you could get the airflow necessary to make the engine undersquare that'd be the way to go in EMC. Look at the Kaase Mod Motor that won. If the rules had let him run that engine at 330 or 350 ci he'd have scored even better ....

C8R is flat plane DOHC... pretty sure that is the "old" LT2 variant pictured.
