Re: Sonic cleaners
Tuner have you used this on oxidized heads? Before buying a cleaner I want to see if it will be better then my spray booth for cleaning aluminum heads, Or just buy a good soda blaster to replace my sand blaster.

Re: Sonic cleaners
This is what I wanted to know how it does with heads, so would need a soda blaster as well. Or just a good soda blaster to use after the jet wash.Just have to see what there is to look at PRI. Thanks for the feed back.

Going to look at them at PRI and would like to know before I buy one that they will clean aluminum heads, particularly the carbon in ports and oxidation from road salt. Already have a high pressure spray wash, w...

Re: Mains & Rod Bearings
Talked to king on the AM bearings for a small journal sbc that would be around 400hp and run hard sometimes. Run the am bearings on the rods, the tech at king said they would be fine for the application.

I use mostly king hp bearings, and they do sell them coated.Have used these for years with no problems, but as mentioned most problems are not from bearing failure.

Re: Machinist Guys! Thoughts on installed valve stem height
Prosis list the early engine @ 1.930 to 1.970 and later @ 1.820 to 1.850, The machine shop should have checked stem height @ tear down and compared it to prosis if they are members. If not write it down for later. Stem height is important for none adjustable rockers, that is why there is a butt grin...

The AN 501 should be fine, their 280 grit. I finish with AN301 or 501 and a few strokes with the sunnen brushes.

Check with Tech line coatings to see how much their thermal barrier coatings would reduce temps.

Re: valve guide install, hot or cold head?
Generally I put the head thru the heated wash tank and set the guides outside in the snow for bit, but have done them without heat or cooling the guide and have never had any issue's doing it either way. They do go in a little easier if you have a cold guide and warm head.
