Re: Tunnel Ram 4-Speed Bog

Careful with that it allows use of a standard jet, but not a jet extension the notch only clear the jet itself. I liked the idea of turning the carbs around backwards and adding jet extensions to the front (now rear)... I've only dealt with jet extensions on center hung bowls. I use the screw in ty...

Re: Tunnel Ram 4-Speed Bog

Has this car got a fuel pressure gauge the driver can watch?I just went through pretty much the same thing as you are describing on a bbc camaro. The car was momentarily dropping fuel pressure at launch. We found the return on the stock sump tank had come loose and it was allowing air to be pulled in...

Re: Tunnel Ram 4-Speed Bog

You have no way to use a jet extension on it now, most of
them are converted to rear metering block and turned
sideways, then there's no need for jet extensions.

Turn the carbs around and use jet extensions on the primary,
you'll need to revise the throttle linkage.

Steve K wrote: Sun Aug 23, 2020 4:15 pm Just for the hell of it try a couple of Eddy carbs if you can. 600's would do the trick. I have two cars with tunnel rams (bigger displacement but...) and neither bog and both pull hard through the gears. They a stick shift's as well.
If you can find two to try, be worth testing.

Re: Tunnel Ram 4-Speed Bog

Are the carbs mounted side ways or regularly, seems to me 660's don't have
secondary metering blocks they have metering plates.
They need to be mounted side ways because of the g force your pulling off
the line, if there mounted regularly your uncovering the metering orifice
or what would be the jet.

Re: Trying to salvage a 400 sb 'update'

Pop a set 5.7 rods in it and mill .125 off piston tops, old 70's - 80's trick to help cost then. Careful to check them 49cc heads for valve clearance on a 350 I wasn't able to get .520 valve lift with out valves striking pistons, if you don't know valves sit at a different angle than stock 23 deg. h...

Put 5.7" rods in it and cut a .135 thou off the piston tops, been done for years.

Re: Running 2 stages of NOS?

Go for it, it'll be fun.
Did that on a '78 Malibu, w/406 mild build back in 1992.
It ran 12.02@ 112mph in the qtr. NA
and 10.88@122mph in the qtr. w/NOS both
kits being hit right at the start.
That was 2 pro/shots kits set on middle setting
I believe it was 125HP or 150HP back then.

Yes and I didn't have any time or very minimal time involved in cleanup on them, There was casting flash sticking up .100" and more in spots, with valves closed you couldn't drag a straight edge across the valve and chamber roof without catching the flash. Just giving a heads up he asked what p...
