Re: Measuring for pushrods...part deux

I don't know anything about the 351W so no advice, I believe many chevy rocker manufacturers cheat a little bit on the listed ratio to make up for the pushrods angling away from the ports

Re: 1978 454 solid cam, all street..

the Chevy 143 cam is the stock L72 and L78 cam, it's generally listed as having .520" lift, I probably drove 80,000 miles in 2 cars with those cams, they had claimed 11 to 1 CR and these were 4 speed cars, no idea about the manifold vacuum I didn't have a gauge and would have considered it a tool fo...

Re: Engine swap ideas for a 1979 Mercedes 240D

Chevy 4.3 with the vortec heads and Edelbrock carb manifold probably make triple the original horsepower and could use older non computer controlled automatic with overdrive

Re: 1978 454 solid cam, all street..

going to have to be custom I doubt any shelf solid lifter cam is going to make that vacuum, Compcams has lobe no. 6114 which is 200 deg at .050 that should make for a smooth idle

Re: Max boring an aftermarket BBC cast-iron block?

I think you could use a larger bore with iron heads than alum. 4.70" bore would leave .140" between cylinders, warm up the engine with external heat source before starting and give it a try, if I wanted to disguise cubic inches from onlookers I would take a tall deck block, cut it down to maybe 10" ...

Re: BBC Rocker Studs

first I would not run 250# spring pressure on stud rockers on the street. only one way to know if it will work-try it. one thread on the stud is .050" so 10 turns on the nut is half inch-the least I would use, the higher on the stud the rocker pivot is the higher the bending force on the stud, you c...
