Re: Cooling tricks with iron headed hot rods?
I thought the Z28 with Goodyear Gatorbacks had excellent wet manors but the only comparison I had was 1970"s Chevelles and Camaros, one of those front end "bra" bug covers was a no go, didn't get 10 miles on the highway before I stopped and took it off because the temp scared me

Re: Tow Truck Engine
the current cost of hyd roller lifters is absurd, just not acceptable for a budget build, for a low use engine your current lifters should work fine with a street type solid roller lobe, maybe a cam expert can tell from the cam core you have if it is feasible to regrind or you might be able to sell it

Re: Cam Recomendations for a 383 SBC
left out a couple of words in my long explanation, "the same" .050 duration, example- a .600" lift on 230 deg @ .050 lobe is more intense than a .500" lift on 230 deg @ .050 lobe

Re: Cam Recomendations for a 383 SBC
download the Comp Cams lobe profile catalog and look at page 71, the "MI" on the left stands for major intensity which is the difference between advertised duration and .050 duration, a lower major intensity figure indicates faster opening and closing-typically called more aggressive lobe,...

Re: HEI ignition, solid core leads & resistor-less rotor
I'm surprised solid core wires are still made, saw an episode of "Roadkill" where they blamed them for ignition failures, what is the intended use for them? generators? boats? hope not in aircraft

Re: Toyota 3UZ engine dimensions
one of those links has the rod length at 5.75" and the stroke is 3.25" so the deck height might be a tad shorter than the SBC, I see the LS Chevy is said to be the same 28" long, don't know if that is bellhousing to front cover or what

Re: holley 3310 chokeless body recommendations
probably no aftermarket chokeless main body for vacuum sec carbs, the air cleaner flange is 3.25" high-add 1/2" to 3/4" for vent tube

Re: weiand street warrior big chevy any happy users
you never answered about your climate, do you need a choke? do you need the exhaust heat? the ED 2161 and the Weiand 8123 claim to have carb height of 4.85" they are fully divided, even the price is similar, no real difference between them, the Speedmaster claims to be .200" lower and has ...

Re: performer or rpm intake choice on this cam please
I would use the shorter manifold and fit the heat insulating shield spacer like came on Chevelles-don't know if Camaros used them, iron heads would concern me with modern gasoline, what climate are you in?

Re: performer or rpm intake choice on this cam please
their description says the RPM has about 3/8" higher carb pad and won't fit 67-81 Camaro, do you have scoop or lump in the hood? my expeirence on a 1970 model with the 569 factory rectangle port manifold showed maybe a 1/2" hood clearance with the stock open element Chevy air cleaner which...
