Re: First big block Chevy

stock piston to valve clearance won't allow a 550HP cam, if you change pistons, single plane intake etc the heads will make that HP but the cam won't be fun at lower rpm

Re: Roller rockers, difference between brands?

there is a lot of "word salad" in this thread, how hard would it be to 3D print a rocker body that uses the trunnion dimension from some common stud rocker arm? Comp Cams 19004 for instance,it could use a shaft style cup adjuster on the pushrod side to move the pushrod tip, making the valve side adj...

Re: Fun with a L69 305 84 Z28

get a junk(yard) 305 and bore one cylinder .060, set any stock sbc head on it and check how large an intake valve will fit, experiment with offset dowel pins, the 3.75" stroker is easy, spend your porting efforts on the exhaust manifold, I'm not qualified to say what cam will sound nearly stock

Re: Calculating Cubic Inch Displacement

wasn't there some 7 liter displacement competition category back in the day? FIA or something? I thought that was a factor in generating the 426 and 427 size engines

Re: BBC question

look at the dyno graphs in the Chevy Performance Parts catalog, the high torque 383 makes about 105 hp @ 2000 rpm, the lowest power 454 makes about 185 hp @ 2000 rpm, thats 80 hp increase for about 150 pounds weight increase

Re: LS/circle track?

it's the box that makes the horsepower difference, hard to believe the trigger function makes any effect at such low rpm, did you run it with just a distributor triggering?
