Re: Tow Truck Engine

If I were in your shoes, and not knowing all the details, I might use the sportsmans. Unless they were ported to be huge I would open up the chamber a little ( enough to lower the compression and use a thicker head gasket. Then use a good flat tappet and lifters and go with it. Those heads take a be...

Ford Elec Vac Pump on the dyno: test https://flic.kr/p/2pChSpQ Test 2: https://flic.kr/p/2pChSiT Ran the Ford electric pump on the dyno. For the 565 it could only pull 1.5-2". To run one on the street you'd certainly need an oil separator, as I killed one on the dyno in just the short time we ...

Re: best timing setup BBC

I have used basic covers over the top of belt drives. Often times on boats where the driver and passenger are literally inches from the belt drive. I don’t want a girls hair to get in it or my kids fingers.

I will try to remember and look at one I have to see if it has it. I want to say it does, but I will get a pic when I get my hands on it.

Re: Carb recommendation SBC 383

I bought one of the proforma 750 bodies to build for my Son's 377. I've heard these actually flow 840cfm I wouldn't be keen on 840 cfm from 1 11/16 throttle bores, sounds like a tuning challenge. I think it's the same main body quickfuel has used for years? That is probably the dry flow numbers. Of...

Just did one using this main body. I would recommend it. I have no data other than my friend likes the way it drives and performs in his car. I used the original 3310 settings. You can’t go wrong for a starting point.

Re: Carb recommendation SBC 383

My annular 750 was down 30hp over my 750 with down legs on a 358 spinning 6500 rpm and making 480 HP. We put 40 dyno pulls on that annular trying every e-bleed, air bleed and jet combo. We had it spot on. Then dropped on a down leg and blew it away by 25 HP on the first pull. I was about ready to w...

Re: Carb recommendation SBC 383

One specific annular carb vs. one specific downleg carb on one specific engine? Glad you found what worked best on your combo. Correct, it is just one data point. The OP is talking about a basic combo that is not far off my basic combo. For that reason I shared details found on the dyno that could ...

What revs was the 480 HP at ?
6600 was its peak. That’s where it made 480. Just a basic iron headed, hydraulic roller pump gas boat engine.

Re: Anyone got a picture of an SVO 351C head with Jesels?

All of the early DRCE and old Chevy symmetrical port stuff I dealt with was all individual stands. We used to do a locating dowel to help keep it located. Later we would take 3/16”x1/2” steel strap and cut pieces to weld the stands toward both the bottom and top. We essentially made them one piece s...

Bill should have them turned into E-books so they can be available for years to come. That way he can make a buck and never have to worry about shipping or printing again.

Silverchicken, if I was in your shoes and was concerned about this, I might open up the chambers a little. I used a set of the older corvette heads with the similar chamber on a boat. I opened up the chamber in the spark plug area. It improved intake flow and also reduced the compression ratio just ...
