Re: Can you make 600hp with iron vortec heads?
I'm not familiar with any such racing class, but a local builder put together a 383" SBC with iron Vortec heads, single 4-bbl and is claiming 600hp. He's an experienced old-school guy, but that seems steep. Have you done as well or better lately? Larry is the one to ask Maxrace. I have seen some of...

Re: Value of a factory 454 LS-6 crate engine?
Long time friend of mine has a crate Chevy 454 LS-6 that he bought at the local dealer back in early 1980's. It was never used and has sat for years and the only thing he did to it was a swap to hydraulic cam. He still has the original factory solid cam it came with. The engine was never fired up o...

A better title would be:
"what driveline behind my 350 will get me in the 10s"
Still waiting for you to get on me with that peanut port

Re: Closed chamber BBC heads
Those heads with there stock 2.06” intake valve should flow at least 245 cfm to 250 cfm @.600” lift. This should make you 475 Hp . If your doing the porting work yourself then be sure to look at some of the better detailed porting videos on YouTube that you can find. You should have the intake and ...

Re: Vortec Head 350 Track Testing
The Vortec heads are pretty good for sure, my best so far with a mild bowl and chamber work went, 1.48 60ft 6.86 1/8 mile' 96mph On a 406. That's a great 60' time and I bet the car would be quicker with less gear as I found with my Vortec combo. Nice numbers for you guys. What makes it quicker is p...

Vortec Head 350 Track Testing
My son recently got out to the track with his Camaro for some testing which I found interesting, especially his engine combination. He currently is running a 355 with unported 906 Vortec heads, intake is a Edelbrock Super Victor with a 750 Holley. Camshaft is a hyd flat tappet with 435/460 lift and ...

Re: 2.56 Gear, Stock Converter, 4100 Pounds, NA 11s?
My math shows 35 observed HP gain with no tuning, then theres the 3000 feet DA difference, so basically you picked up a minimum of 50 observed HP based on 1/8 mile MPH. I really feel the 228 @ .050 cam is the cork on the 510 inch engine, I hope its fuel or ignition that is holding you up, at the ver...
