Re: 2.56 Gear, Stock Converter, 4100 Pounds, NA 11s?

My math shows 35 observed HP gain with no tuning, then theres the 3000 feet DA difference, so basically you picked up a minimum of 50 observed HP based on 1/8 mile MPH. I really feel the 228 @ .050 cam is the cork on the 510 inch engine, I hope its fuel or ignition that is holding you up, at the ver...

Re: Engine Diagnosis

Buggered power valve? Power valve too high? Like a 8.5 power valve with a big cam. Plug is sorted, but not wet, so it's either a weak spark (that seems to be covered) or pig rich at low load. Got a known good carb to throw on it to confirm or rule out a carb issue? The cam was 228 @ .050 and I beli...

Engine Diagnosis

Some time ago Ibuilt a engine for a customer, it was dyno tested and ran fine, the engine was installed in the car and would run for about 5 minutes good and then start running rough, the plugs would come out and look like, see picture. 1. Dist changed 2. 13.4 volts to the new HEI 3. Plenum clean 4....

Re: Super Stock Dyno Pull

Yea, I have way more things to worry about and dyno power isn't on the list right now. This car has 10 runs on it since built new. So if I want a challenge, I found it! :) As far as this dyno. It doesn't use a flywheel and they go 1-12 on rates. We tried 3, 6, 9, 12, just to see. Honestly maybe 3 h...

Re: Super Stock Dyno Pull

I can tell you testing on my dyno SF 901 a 30 pound flywheel shows about 6 corrected HP less than a flex plate @ 600 RPM per sec, on a typical BBC. I have tested @ less than 200 RPM per sec many years ago, and if I remember right it showed more HP than 600 per sec, but not 1 percent more in my testi...

Will change my post, were not dealing with a 295/350 here, dealing with a LT1 never power numbers with one of those.

Re: Super Stock Dyno Pull

The dyno I use is low vs some of the others. Last time I posted a sheet from it from another one of my personal engines I was told it was bad, so I'm not posting a sheet. I'm going to put it in the car and test the wheels off it. Then freshen it and change a few things. Like the cam, IMO it's all w...
