Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
But will it make that 500lb ft at 1000rpm? Thats pretty bad ass though. A friend has a 78 D300 with a 440. He also has a set of these long runner Chrysler intake manifolds. I thought it would be bad ass if we put injector bungs on those and a pair of throttle bodies on each side. They would give fa...

Re: anyone ever here of "excessive acceleration"
I've heard of and experienced ' insufficient traction's but never excessive acceleration.

I'll go out on a limb, if it's an old MP camshaft it should be the old .590 flat tappet solid.

Re: Boxed rods - gone and not fondly remembered
The antique tractor pullers,(John Deere 2 cylinder) will commonly cut the connecting rods in half and weld in a chunk to lengthen the rod. They also stroke the crank enough so that they have to cut out and extend the crankcase for crank and rod clearance.

Re: Has Anybody Successfully Ran a Dyno In A Residential Neiborhood
Small Town, under 100 population. I use 2 5" diesel truck mufflers. I talk to my neighbors beforehand. Don't run it early in the morning or after supper and on Sundays I wait till the church is done. After 15 years I've had one complaint, we also do not have a noise ordinance. Most people will ...

Re: What's better A timing chain setup or a gear drive setup
I use a Milodon geardrive on my 605 Hemi. Things are a bit close inside the block. I've got .060 cam lobe to connecting rod clearance on 4 lobes.

Re: Soldering/drilling jets?
Holley carbs have countless jet kits available for them. On the other hand a Carter Thermoquad had a very limited supply for aftermarket jetting supplies. I have no problem drilling an soldiering jets for such a beast and have had good luck doing so. I am usually using a LM-2 A/F meter and or a Dyno...

Re: How far can a piston be run above deck?
4.75" stroke, 7.1" rods, Diamond pistons, it briefly hit 8000. No damage could be found after teardown. Put it back together with .052 cosmetics and still running strong 10 years later.

Re: How far can a piston be run above deck?
For what it's worth, on my 605 Hemi I zero decked it and ran a .042 cometic. It left witness marks on the heads after a few dyno pulls, I switched to .052 cosmetics and all was golden. I was using a cast iron mega block though.

Re: Dumb history question for the carb guys
I didn't re-read all five pages of this thread, but back on page one the OP was asking about daily drivers as much as about racing; there was also mention of the QuadraJet and the Thermoquad. IIRC, these were the last two clean-sheet carburetor designs before fuel injection. Both of those carbs, wh...

Re: Anyone here running a solid lift roller cam on a street car?
I run a bullet custom solid roller on the street, been doing so for 10 years. .767/.676, 288/292@.050 113©, it has mild ramps and has had minimal maintenance required. The motor is a 605 Street Hemi, I love this cam.

Re: Chrysler ShortRams
The dealer mechanics hated them when it came time to set valves. Heard more than one story of sets getting thrown in the dumpster. Actually they aren't that bad to work with. I can have them one the bench in 15-20 minutes.
