Re: Carb Casting Repair, Zinc Solder?

I have made repairs with the rods they sell for fixing pot metal to make about a square inch of fuel bowl bottom ,used some rusty metal to make a form for the bottom melted it in, it looked somewhat ugly but was still working 15 years later, perhaps if I had practiced some it could have been nicer l...

Re: Modifying a fuel tank sender

Re: Nasty looking bores.

I just got to see this car again, it limped in 3 years and 75k after the incident in the picture, all it got was a few swipes with rigid hone and used piston/used rings, oil consumption stopped--- he claimed to have changed the oil--- once, -- in 75k miles, came limping in with all filters clogged a...

Re: model a/b/t ford

The "B" crankshaft has 2" mains, the rods 1.875 I took apart a lot of the early midget/sprite engines, it was surprising how many of the inserts were cracked in 1/2 Go look at this site https://www.antiqueenginerebuilding.com/INSERTTECH.html It lists all the machining sizes for proper...

They were made as car engines--I have worked on them for many years, what engine can blow the cam off the head when it gets out of time and doesn't bend valves---replace the cam bearings and cam, fish in a new chain and start it----during the first gulf war I ran my 616 on used oil (it doesfill the ...

Re: My 2003 Accent's clutch??

Many times when I take apart something like that the lubrication is gone from the snout the to bearing hub slides on, this will make the clutch pedal feel stiff, sometimes I can direct some lube to that area withoug getting any on the linings, some cars have no acess

Re: Water pump GPM estimate

Just because you think it is a poor design that appears too simple doesn't mean that it isn't a highly evolved design optimized for the application, you are still proposing to use a pump that has 5gpm less rating than the stock pumps.

Re: Water pump GPM estimate

From the november 36 Ford service bulletins--- capacity per minute (per pump)at 3000 rpm ---20 gallons So it seems you need a pump for each side just to equal stock. The 39 I had with the 60 ran cool at 75 mph --- built it with new original parts, boxed set of rods --all weighed within less than a g...

Re: Galvanic corrosion , Aluminum and Copper press fit.

Mercedes used copper intake guides in aluminum heads for many years, I have scrapped over 60 lbs of copper guides ---they did wear fast, have never seen any corrosion at the guide/head interface even on heads that there was long term gasket problems that ate the head away from the valve seat. Most g...
