Re: carb to big ?

What happens when a carb is just to big for the engine ? Does it run real rich ? Even if the carb is factory calibrated to supply the amount of fuel needed for the amount of air its supposed to deliver ? thanks Brian The carb is too big when you put a smaller carb on it in the car and the car perfo...

Re: 350 Vortec Head Track Test Update

Aren't hydraulics technically all zero lash? So, is the zero lash statement above a reference to preload? Some I know will bottom out the hydraulics and run it essentially as a solid lifter. With the pre-lube pump it sounds like a case of zero preload. As in the plunger isn't compressed at all. Oil...

Re: 350 Vortec Head Track Test Update

Solid lifter camshaft? Hyd zero lash Allot of people don't believe they will do this but they can. I did a budget dirt motor with the cheapo Isky mega 304 hyd cam ,, he said it was pulling hard still at 8000 ,, I used a pre lube pump and set the valves with it hot ,, it really caused some people to...

Re: 13 degree steel block , wet sump , internal oil pump motor

Eh ,, they might switch all of the parts over to an aluminum block ,, that will take all the fun out of bringing it to this forum ,, I hope it gets left a wet sump engine. The man is a good driver with a good chassis,, so that factors in to his wins with this combo ,, but so are the cars he's beatin...

Re: 3310-1 vacuum secondary check ball?

Taking the check ball out might work in a drag car ,, I've done it ,, might try the drill trick on one for the next one I do

I wanna swap a 850 throttle plate on one and 830 stepped boosters on the next one too

Re: 377 SBC build

I've never heard anyone say that built a 377 ,, " I hated how that motor ran " ,, usually people like em. I did a budget 383 for a dirt racer ,, 13.5-1 ,, 220 RHS heads ,, 633 gear ,, 3400 lbs ,, I asked him if he would rather change the gear or the cam ,, he said gear ,,, so I put the Is...

Re: -12 Brodix Heads

I had a old set ,, 242 cc ,, the top of the intake port was close to the valve cover rail ,, some aren't that high. I've heard the better ones are like the set I had. I have to wonder since the port is shorter than a typical 18-13 degree head that it might have a peak HP advantage ? Why else would t...

Re: 13 degree steel block , wet sump , internal oil pump motor

What is the engine? How many cylinders? What design uses a steel block? Is the engine mounted at a 13* angle? I am trying to make any sense of what this engine is and what the application that it is dominating in. Paul You're a clown I guess ,, find Jody Adkins, Pikeville KY,, motor built by Hawks ...

Re: 13 degree steel block , wet sump , internal oil pump motor

My friends shop just built spanked 45 alum block , dry sump motors on its first outing Dynoed 775 HP ,, not the best but the intake is small and could be holding it back some , 720 ft lbs of torque and curve flat as Texas 421 ci Soo ,, all the wide bore , gotta have this , gotta have that crowd bet...
