Re: Options for 1920's engine design refurbish.
Not sure how you would resize the pistons. They are most likely a barrel skirt and you cant just turn them down. First thing I would do is get it apart and then get some very good measurements off the pistons. You might be surprised to find that there is something very close available that fits a di...

Any symbols or other markings anywhere on it ? How about a picture of it ? Some manufacturers have distinct appearance.

Re: Valve lock ok to use?
I pretty much consider locks as a consumable item. If they come off an engine they go in the trash. Simply not worth taking the chance.

Re: Eagle connecting rod burnt cap
I am sort of tempted to agree with CA but if you don't feel comfortable with it Eagle has always been very good at matching weights in single rods. If you torque it together and it is still round and on size I doubt that you hurt it
Compare it to one of the other rods in the same set.

Re: Drilling holes in head gaskets = more flow = lower temps: Change My Mind!
But just LOOK at how tiny those holes are on the intake side; how can that be good for cooling / flow? cometic gasket drill.jpg Adam, If you did a little bit of thinking about how the coolant flows through this engine you would see that making those holes bigger would not increase flow. The coolant...

How about a few more details ? Stock engine in a truck ? Supercharged in a boat ? RPM range.

jc,
I am sure you already thought of this but have you looked through their individual stud listings to see if there is something close enough to work ?

Re: Looking for some Help...SBC Oil fouling plug
Even so, I sprayed the carb cleaner down the tube... RPM dropped. Repeated 3 times. Dropped each time. A 5 second shot would stall the engine. Keeping in mind that the cylinder I am having trouble with is a straight shot to the oil fill tube. There you go. The carb cleaner is getting sucked into th...

I am sure the labor cost will vary depending on where you are located. The one thing I would suggest is making sure that only OEM Ford parts are used. Where are you located ? Might be a good independent shop nearby that can do the job.

Re: Looking for some Help...SBC Oil fouling plug
The engine is built as a clone of a 66 L79 Nova. The Z28 intake looks similar to the L79 but flows better. Thats why it was used instead, the PCV system is the stock looking system as used on the L79. It was referred to as a closed system The 1966 "closed" PCV system had a PCV valve that was thread...

Do you have a picture of the part ? I have a complete 2000 engine in my next door unit that might have it on it. I am going to be using the long block for a marine build so I wont need that part.
