Re: Chevy C/ED 10134363 18deg SBC Heads
Larry,
I have a set of Lump 19 Deg rolled and Cracked the same way. Someone fixed them.
I have always thought they froze and were fixed until I read this post.
Good to see you back in the shop working the magic.

Re: Lowering exh rocker ratio.
I have used a lot of cams with a few degrees shorter duration on the exhaust for limited circle track engines that have manifolds and ex pipe limitations.
I always thought it helped with Torque and helped with the back flow problems at overlap.

Re: Tunnel rammed 23* 421sbc
When your on the dyno If you do much testing between a single 4 and the tunnel ram manifold you will probably notice the tunnel ram will raise the Tq curve a few hundred RPM and make the middle and upper Tq stronger. Correctly sized TR's are a favorite of mine..

Re: KB piston
They knock because of the taper ground into the skirts. The tight is at the tip of the skirt. Measure a KB just below the oil land and it has an abnormal amount of clearance and taper toward the skirt tips. That large cold clearance is necessary because the expansion is greater in that area of pisto...

Re: KB piston
I think I still have a sample piston (JE) that I used for the angles of the TW heads. When I cut non TW pistons to fit TW heads. You just have to be careful with the notch depth and valve size/clearance of valve on some pistons. big valve cut deep doesn't work on some non TW pistons. Your welcome to...

Re: Unique Engine – More Power Needed
2 things I like about your changes. 1. Alky. 2. 3 X2's Alky will make more TQ Long stroke should like the Alky burn rate 3 X 2's = better distribution and the area of the N/S can be optimized for the area/flow of the jets. Keeping float level at optimum in the long pulls. Should result in a much bet...

Re: Lobe Intensity vs Durability
Kevin, The Cam Pro Plus program (Cam Dr.) will give a guy a good education in lobes and RR function, esp if you have developed a large data base. Basic design parameters are the starting point. Why and What was the original design purpose and where do the changes take you??? Do you find broken or st...

Re:
How does it make sense the higher rocker ratios should not be used on the hi intensity lobes when the cam companies use that same lobe for engines with 1.7 or higher ratios? BBC and BBF comes to mind. Not to mention the valve train is much heavier in a big block Chevy than a small block. I do agree...

Re: Lobe Intensity vs Durability
I would check with the cam company on that higher intensity lobe. They should know if 1.6 RR were in the design parameters. Some lobes are designed to be RR specific or tolerable. With a solid I would go for it, but a Hyd might not like the little extra the 1.6 RR puts on it. A good Cam Mfg should g...
