Re: Offenhauser intake manifolds

429 & 460 Port-O- Sonic were pretty good back in the day.
Really a little ahead and very similar to the open plenum spider intakes of today.

Re: Pick a head, any head.

That much RWHP and you want more. You have an engine that is making over one HP per Cu in for the street. You have the similar output of some nasty factory HP engines. 350 HP 327 450 HP 454 425 HP 427 375 HP 396 Get my drift. BTW a dyno is a tool. Take it to another Dyno you may have 400 RWHP. IMHO ...

Re: 193 Swirl Port Porting Question

The reason for the need for less timing is the plug location and the active chamber. The active chamber can be attributed to the way the swirl comes out of the port and into the cylinder. Plug location is up high in the chamber and more centered. It is a flame front issue. GM has also used better pl...

Re: Indy car engine difference…

Is it my imagination or have they reduced the width of the Indy Car tires from years past?
This was the first year I watched Indy in a long long time.

Re: Interpreting PipeMax 3.98 4-2-1 lengths

Do the 2 step.
Most of the Comp combinations I have had headers built for go down the track as fast or faster with 2 step.
3 step usually shows up only on the dyno.
It makes fitting in the car so much easier, too.

Re: SB Chevy Edelbrock Victor Ram manifold

All depends on the Tq curve.
Headers usually rock the tq curve around and intake runner sets how the engine carries after Tq peak to make HP.
Might be a little big, but with the right headers & cam..??

Re: WTB Dyno water brake..

Won't fit your needs, but I have a brand new in the box Go power that does 400 Lbs ft at 7,000.
I was going to set it up for easy cam break in and carb/timing tunes.

Re: Quick Fuel SS750AN Tuning

I didn't read all the way through, but got enough to see you dyno with headers and added manifolds and a air filter. In my experience you wasted a dyno session, esp trying to tune the carb. The headers/exhaust and air filter totally change the acoustics of the system. You now have reversion that you...

Well it has been a circus. I have had computer problems and didn't even know it. I'm such an idiot with computers... I couldn't get back on Speed Talk so I gave up and just became a watcher. Re: Plenum volume

Years ago when we did 9-10,000 RPM comp engines we started with a cc per cu in. . add till it fell off on the dyno. then take out tell it fell of when it was in the car. yes I've seen too much. The car gets lazy off the shift or 60's fall off.

Re: Looking to make some more power, welcoming ideas/advice

The falling on the face bothers me.. I have seen and heard of a huge amount of power gain getting rid of the HEI module or dist. The Chinese electronics in those modules are all over the place. Dist first. Then maybe a slightly bigger header tube. Get cam with closer to .600- .650 lift. The heads ar...
