Re: Serv equip power stroke honing question

I run the bore down to end of cylinder and then do a .010 undercut for as low as I can, at least .500 of rovertravel of hone. Post photos so we can see.

Re: Thinner piston pins and moving pin up in the piston

If u go to a certain point on pins, u better put extra clearance in piston or the pin will pinch. Ask me how I know

Re: Dart Pro 1 heads-Backcut

On my flow bench, Ive always found gain with a back cut, BUT not always on my dyno. For my engine, I back cut intake valve but never back cut exhaust.. Reversion can rear its ugly head more than u think but cam and headers play a huge part in that. So choose your medicine.

Re: Balance question

Longer rod will present no problem on counterweights. Only problem is counterweights may be cut to much to your balancing liking. Only way to know is pre-way everything and see how it looks to their target weight. If I get a job out that require more than one or two holes, I call customer and tell h...

Re: Bent roller camshafts

Is the cam cast or steel. I will straighten a cast cam only if under .005. Ive straightened steel up to .030 but do it slowly and then set it with a blunt punch. Ive also straightened with cold water and heat but u better know the steel to do that.

Re: .842 solid roller lifter needle or bushed??

Ive had 4 engines come back in this year (2023) that lost roller lifters. 2 were .842, one was .875 and had one Mopar at .903(my first of this). As might think, had a lot of damage. Have gone to bushed to try to help. Have flooded the lifter with oil and took pressure up 5 psi to ensure oiling. Wait...

Re: Custom pistons or zero deck the block with off-the-shelf pistons?

You will find thaat unless you offset grind the crank yourself, that it will cost more to do that than the extra price on piston. I offset grind some cranks, but it is not cheap and you better know who u get to do it. Most will miss the index. Decking .020 off the deck will not hurt it but trim some...

Re: Overbalanced 3.75” SBC crank and vibration

Been balancing engines for many years and selling balance machines for 15+{ years. Never gone more than 1% on over or underbalance. In fact very seldom do either of these for a street machine. Explain the theory for 4% please

Re: Chevy 327 Deck Clearance?

Sounds like it may have a cheap rebuild set of pistons that comes deeper in the hole to make up for a block that had to be decked. Doesnt matter, giving up waay to much on compression.

Re: Speedmaster aluminum block

Well, I wish I read all of these comments before I purchased a Speedmaster aluminum SBC. I purchased what was supposed to be a “fully machined block”, yet I had to have it “decked” as the liners stuck out of the deck. Also, had to have it finished honed to fit my pistons. Those and cam bearings ins...

Re: Home Crank Polish Job - Send It or Asking for Trouble?

Seen this time after time. Doesnt matter what total oil capacity is. What does matter is what is in the pan at the end of the track. Spend all the time that you can in getting your oil back to pan. There will be a mismatch of oil return out of the head going thru head gasket and block. Also chamfer ...
