Re: Am I somewhere close with my exhaust lengths
Thank you all for the replies, The car is used for rallying here in the UK and some tight and awkward parts of the stages require the use of the lower part of the rpm range I listed. I feel I currently have room for improvement here and hopefully higher up the rpm range with a more appropriately si...

Re: Am I somewhere close with my exhaust lengths
Spend a few bucks on pipemax it will be pretty close. Next step up would be to get a full set of measurements of the entire engine/induction system and then use something like EngMod4T. That is pretty good at predicting the effect of small changes to the whole curve.Ideally you should have some dyno...

Re: Electronic ignition on the flywheel
I'm going to be awfully dull :) If not horribly worn and properly laterally and axially supported it should be relatively ok. Measure slop in the gear engagement as well as in all axis and work from there. Axial play also translates in timing changes with a helical gear. If that is all over the plac...

Re: Brake shoe fitment
additional : if is manual adjustment try setting them full tight, then using a big rubber mallet to whack it like you mean it all around then it generally is lose again. Repeat for a few rounds. There should be enough braking pressure to get a decent contact unless it is a mile off once everything is...

Re: Air bubbles in the oil
As I have said ... IF it is a dry sump, then an oil pump with a centrifuge section will help a lot. it's not dry sump. it's basically a large aluminum sump with the gears added instead of the normal sump in the inline version of the engine. I don't know if it is a wide spread problem. Mini Migs run...

7-ent has a version as well and when you dust of your cad skills and send the file to send cut send you well get something similar for less than $100.

Re: Velocity stacks & Cold air induction tube
This is not F1. you are not doing any harmonic tuning or ram charging. You are just getting nicely dense air to the air filter with minimal resistance. Whatever is on that end will not make a huge difference. Any radius is better than no radius and any 1/2 donut ring would probably be fine so take t...

Re: British 1275 road race crankshaft (oil galley size)
Agree with BCjohnny I don't think it matters much. I would check the passages at the block and oil pump for casting mishaps, maybe clean that up. Check if bearing holes align. Just get the basics right. I would mostly build the whole spec down to <7500 redline

Re: Tesla Model S Plaid 9.24
The Rimac Nevera does it in 8.6 and apparently is fine to potter about in, the weird and wonderful McMurtry Speirling did a 7.97 on normal race track asphalt using 2wd (but 2 tons of fan downforce) it's absolutely silly.

I hinted at doing the basics first . I don't know anything of these engines. does the nr1 cylinder tend to run richer ?

I looked it there was something that would help within the OpenFoam CFD framework but it's all hideously complicated
