Jones Cams small HR Dyno

This is a build from a few years back. It was fired up with a base tune and then the car was restored for another three years. It’s a LM7. 5.3 LS engine. Very mild build. Bored .020”, squared decked, stock heads with stock valve sizes, LS6 valve springs, LS lifters, stock intake, etc.. I asked Jones...

Re: Jeep in a crate

When I was growing up, I heard stories/rumors about WWII (perhaps later?) disassembled Jeeps in a crate covered in cosmoline. Anyone here get one or know of one actually being obtained? A co-worker bought several the infamous US military jeeps oscrap/surplus in the mid 80's . The only catch was tha...

Re: Scat

This isn't a direct answer, just my opinion. Sorry about a sidetrack I've stopped looking at different import cranks rods and have settled with Scat for most applications. Scat are the best out of the box for fit and size. They go the extra step in many ways. Finish, size, moly on bolt threads, ver...

Re: Homemade Engine Dyno

Why would you need to control the speed at which the engine accelerates? Just to measure hp, you would basically set the engine at a certain rpm, put a certain load on it and then accelerate as fast as you can to the next rpm point. Your computer will register tq output on the rpm points you want a...

Re: Corona

Keith I knew from credible sources that at least 90% of what she said is true before hearing her say what she did. So yes, I find her credible. This is where I'd take a close look at those who are attempting to discredit her and their ties to those implicated in the development and deployment of th...

I learned that Dr Judy Mikovits is a dangerous anti-vaxer & a menace to society. Is she a Scientologist or Christian Scientist too? None of that is true to the best of my knowledge, Paul. She is a whistle blower who had her civil liberties unconstitutionally violated and was falsely imprisoned ...

I don't think tracking will go over well in most countries outside of China https://www.wfla.com/community/health/coronavirus/masked-crowds-fill-streets-trains-after-wuhan-lockdown-ends/ Wuhan residents are now permitted to leave without special authorization as long as a mandatory smartphone applic...

Re: Corona

I'm quite confidant that the Covid-19 pandemic (as all the other pandemics), is the result of cross species transmission. The only conspiracy I'll accept is that the Chinese are covering up and hiding the real data. There is no way that the country at the source of the outbreak, with a very high pop...

Re: Corona

The video, especially with the ending, is showing there is no emergency, little to no sick or dying. That would also suggest a global scam of epic proportions, involving all media and all governments.

Re: Closing up shop

I have been trying to give time to allow this individual to make things right. I doubt that will happen. Long story short, I made arrangements to purchase two pair of new cylinder heads plus shipping. Attempted payment through PayPal. Kept having issues with purchasing item/service so he encouraged...

Re: What's with these goofy SBC rocker arms?

Just slid over 3/8” studs, I’d expect a noisy sloppy mess.

If you set the valve tip heights and pushrod length, then put solid spacers under them, it might work well. (The idea, not speedmaster brand)

Re: Welding crank journals

I have a forged crank for an older perfromance engine. One rod journal has a deep score beyond any bearing oversize...I'm considering having it welded at a qualified shop..Then nitrided....From you expereinces can a crank be welded and survive in a performace street engine? I have heard and read it...

Re: Recommend me stone grits

The Lisle 1500 hone is a rigid hard hone. It does use felts for wipers though. I have two Lisle hones for odd jobs. The standard and the small bore hone. They work fine and are also good if you need to dry hone (because of the felts) . You can hone a cylinder out as far as you like, (I honed many sh...

Re: Cocktail Engine - a rare bird for sure!

One of the local rebuilders put a cocktail SBC engine together for the shop truck, using up whatever left over mongrel parts he had. Different oversized pistons, different heads and a good sounding camshaft. One of the customers just had to have the engine from the truck. The owner said "you do...
