Re: Leftovers/junk 388 SBC
What we now call junk I would have been thrilled to have in my car fifty some odd years ago.

Re: Project SF-110 upgrade
It does tuck under a bit along the rear so just go slow as you pry and wiggle and pull it out towards the front. I used clear bath tube sealer when I put it back on and the second time I had to remove it, boy was it a battle! It actually pulled up some of the wood. If I had to do such again I don’t ...

Re: Project SF-110 upgrade
When I had my 110 I had to get that plate off twice. I used a xacto knife along the front until I could get a small blade straight tip screw driver under it and the pried it up to get a bigger blade screwdriver under it and then just worked around the front lifting and prying more and more with each...

I did not watch this but it looks like the only thing the outer pistons can do is kick the inner pistons up?

Re: Datsun R 16 head porting advice?
That exh port looks pretty poor. If your able I would raise the roof .060” and then weld up the short turn and the runner floe out to the flange that same amount. With a head like this you need to first concentrate on the exh 5 cycle where the exh starts the next intake cycle and any pressure wave a...

Re: Switching From Head Bolts to Studs
The expansion rate of a non water cooled head like that is enormous, especially when the motor is making 100% more hp then stock. The deck of the head needs to be mirror smooth so when it does expand and contract at it’s different rate then the air cooled block it sheers the gasket the least amount ...

Re: pertronix rpm limit
If your still running the factory gauge wire from the ignition switch to the coil then at the firing rates ( rpm) your at now your likely exceeding that gauge wires current carrying ability by a good bit .
Wire a amp gauge in your feed wire to the coil and you will see what I mean as the rpm climbs.

Re: L92 600 Crank HP
Those heads are said to have a peak intake flow of 315 to 317, and your cam will need to have enough lift to get you 290 cfm of 317. With the intake flow numbers you need I don’t think a duel plane is the way to go for a manifold, and 2” tubes will reduce too much average torque if you going to run ...

Re: mill off choke tower? any dyno tests?
A 600 cfm carb can support 400 Hp so your not there yet, but in your case ( 650 cfm carb ) with a duel plane intake adding a proper modded 4 hole spacer is worth more then removing the choke tower in terms of adding a few more Hp Above 4800 rpm. The spacer needs to be at least one inch and on the sh...

Re: Push rods
Well it depends. Are you going to add some preload so as things ware in you have no noise take place? In general once the motor gets fully up to temp the valvetrain will naturally load the lifter to about .005” and maybe .008” with a Aluminum rocker. Any preload will act to shorten the push rod and ...
