Re: Are Nikasil bores good for more power

I suppose a big question is air or liquid cooled ? I haven't heard of Nikasil on iron ? Air cooled should have benefit with a plated aluminum bore.

Re: Street Manners

4 bbl.TBI on top of IR. manifold , possibly " FI Tech" brand, E85 compatible. Target is 270+ hp. Max hp. 7k+ ? Original 914 is 75hp. AR cones would be a last resort. This build should have more torque/hp., everywhere over 1.7L. Thank, Art.

Re: Street Manners

914 Inj. is mass, not sequential, not E85 compatible and where is the tuning map ? Type 4 block and crank, is where similarity stops.

Re: mild 360 dodge buildup

I vote magnum for multiple reasons. More choices available in after market. The block contains "nickle". The hyd. roller is a free bonus,
faster ramps and it lives. 273 car came with a 7.25" ring gear + will not last ! Need at least an 8.25"/ later years.

Street Manners

Head flows 270 cfm./28"/.6" int. lift, feeding a 42.7" cylinder x 4. I believe the challenge is to have enough port velocity, for 95% street use ? IR. intake to 4bbl TBI. I'm considering anti reversionary cones at the exhaust ports ? Looks like 15/8" primaries, 4 into one collect...

Re: CB Performance Type 4 VW aluminum engine case

"Just buy Pauter" I see nothing on their website suggest this is suitable for 95% street use. It also seems "pricey". It appears 2 of the studs,
break into the chamber ?

Re: CB Performance Type 4 VW aluminum engine case

Thanks for the good info. Sustaining 600 hp. with a stock type 4 block is impressive. Where do I follow such a build ? I'm gambling my time and $'s about, what used to be call Hot Rodding. What if it actually works ? My goal is to have the first iteration, 90% correct. I will proceed cautiously. Onw...

Re: .0475" ring seal

Good info guys. 2618 material not my first choice for a street piston. That being said, cylinders are air cooled, coated aluminum, more in line with
thermal expansion.
Thanks, Art.

.0475" ring seal

How to seal for 95% street use ? No dry sump. No evacuator on exhaust collector. Opposed 4 cyl. I have heard different pcv valves have different
rates of flow ?
Thanks, Art.

Re: Who regrinds the lifter face crown on used lifters

Ron, "35 deg. face" ? Could that be 35" radius+/- instead ? While on subject, smaller the lifter diameter, less lift per degree of lobe. If this is so, why only that radius is acceptable ? Reportedly , the problem is edge of lifter will gouge the lobe ? Why not use a slightly smaller ...

CB Performance Type 4 VW aluminum engine case

I am considering buying # 1155, all aluminum, without stud holes for cylinders,( a plus). I will bore cases to fit my cylinders. CB claims stronger but won't say how much vs. OEM. Anyone have experience with # 1155 ? I prefer not to drive 9 hours, roundtrip to examine. Thank You, Art. #-o
