Re: Build an ECU porject
What areas of software do you need help with? I do a lot of control logic / strategies for fuel, spark, idle, accessories. Just about everything. I'm also the co-founder of an EFI company that just got this released - http://www.chevyhardcore.com/efi/the-inside-scoop-on-fuel-injection-technologys-ef...

Re: Build an ECU porject
I write software for OEM and aftermarket ECUs. Maybe there's some areas where we can help each other.

Re: ring on injector tip - can someone tell me what this is
As for airflow differences : an ITB had the advantage that the airflow into the cyls can be set individually and they should be very close with marginal difference. Heh, then don't run O2 per cylinder because it will break your heart. I've yet to run into any engine with less than 2 points AFR diff...

Re: Injector size, injector placement and dual injectors
And the processor is so fast when it does knock control it can isolate what cylinder it is and only retards/richens that cylinder. Now that's amazing. And it's a true VE based system, not pulse width based. And don't be fooled by heresay. Locating the injector further down the runner is always bett...

MSIII-pro is 1 micro-second resolution. The megasquirt is all of that and more. It is amazing. Here are just some of the features.............. and at the price you will NEVER come close to the performance that this offers. I think you'd be hard pressed to beat it at ANY price level. The data loggi...

Re: Why an engine makes more power off a burr finish
If I had a really good hi-speed camera and they were not expensive, time consuming and super frustrating to use, I would use it all the time. The good digital ones may be affordable for hobby use in another 5 years. If only the camera could see air and its velocity and pressure, in 3D... Right now ...

Re: Duration at the Valve Question
I wonder whether it's more of an "area under the curve" deal rather than, say, just duration or overlap thing that brings the most changes in power observed. I guess rocker ratio would be a good comparison to know whether it is A or B.

Re: Exhaust question
I suppose the cooling gases will reduce the speed in the pipes, but, that should be a good thing - the slower gas can make the turns easier, and have less flow losses. If you make the gases keep a constant velocity, you actually have to use energy to do it, because the density increases and you woul...

Re: The most powerful NA Stock LS7 SB on the planet 704RWHP!
I'm working on a little gadget that's got an accelerometer built in (like a G-Tech, but with a ton of other things on it that can basically run an engine). Then, you can just put in your weight and possibly a drag vs speed curve, and get your instantaneous horsepower, like a dyno, but, without the u...

They have a 3/4 page ad in the PRI show issue... I see they had a both at SEMA.. anybody check them out their? I saw them at SEMA, and picked up their paper. It's not much different than their website. It has cool machining and coloring, but an odd overall appearance. The guy also had that air clea...

5:1 is lean enough to melt the ground straps at this power level (don't ask me how I know this). I've melted ground straps (and thus lost engines as the rings seize or exhaust valve breaks) at the ~100hp level, n.a., at 0.83 Lambda. Methanol is terrible for auto-ignition - it burns hot, fast and ea...

Re: Stupid fuel injection question, really strange applicati
Fuel robbing does occur when short runners are on a log that has cross flow. I've done some diesels converted to spark ignition methanol, and it's a problem. A carburetor style EFI system would stand a good chance. A sequential system might work, but would need lots of calibration to trim each cylin...

It's a balancing act, for sure. Sometimes it tips the scale, by chance.

Re: Does increased compression help with restrictive exhaust
The inefficiency of it all might end up heating things up while also slowing combustion down to the point that knock is going to happen. Snowball effect, somewhat.
