Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

JC565Ford post_id=943089 time=1681932690 user_id=31927] The rebuild of my 565 (4.6 x 4.25) will have 13.25:1 compression. The best I can figure the dynamic compression ratio will be approx 10.4:1 Reverse dome piston with a reasonably "modern" 75cc chamber. 30-32* timing. Operating power ra...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

I so agree! Now we have throat punchers and people that don't know how fuel is made taking bits from here and there to discredit a legit person that is giving exact # on fuels. Rant on.. Just curious, How many times over the past 30 years have you dyno'd engines, and how many times have you run bac...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

C12 and Av Gas are pretty close in SpG. Are they more dissimilar elsewhere than av gas is to C14+ ? Please inform. The specifications for AvGas are defined in ASTM D-910, which is available on line. There is no specification for specific gravity or stoich value for AvGas. Therefore we cannot predic...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

I know all that, I learned some of it from the late great Don Vesco and Bruce Crower 30 years ago. You're a bit late to my knowledge base. I showed the comparison and similarity of AvGas to two race blends. The only two I could find that were similar. Both race blends were not on the market 30 year...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

" AvGas can run in many engines without problems; but not every engine. But neither can pump gas or certain race gasolines. Putting aside the effects of AvGas additives, we can compare it to other fuels. ..............AvGas.....VP C14+.....Sunoco Standard BP..10%.....167F.......168F.........17...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

By the way, do you know who designs crankshafts? Take a guess. Is there only one crankshaft designer in the US ? Come on, let's be honest. You don't know who designs crankshafts. You only know brand names. And, most probably, do not know why one crank should be different than another design. At one...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

To distill all of the above down to a simple statement: Often times Ag Gas, or a blend of Ag Gas with pump gas, is a reasonable alternative to race gas in a wide variety of motorsports including but not limited to drag racing, circle track, road racing, Off-road, motocross, boat racing. That is you...

Re: Valve spring weight

I replaced my kmotion 950 springs with a set of Pac1427 beehive spring.I was only using the outter springs and damper with the Kmotion spring and I was able to get 220-225 seat pressure installed at around 1.870 height using this set up up with .515 lift flat tappet camshaft but there is so much co...

Re: Valve spring weight

Just a question that I’ve been thinking about lately. It’s base on the weight of a valve spring package if I were to lose over a 100 grams per valve spring what would be the result of the engine package would it rev faster and higher and would there be a torque/hp gain by doing this. Thanks Might you...

Re: Valve spring weight

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I would think that if in any point in your motors operating range you have spring surge taking place then at that point in time the whole / total mass of the spring can be taken into account since it's not touching the head any longer. That would be a serious p...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

Av Gas is always a poor substitute for race gas. Please note that I never said "always" a poor substitute for race gas. The statement is true only 90% of the time. When making comparisons of AvGas to race gas, or comparing two different race fuels, it is necessary to know something about ...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

In light of these numbers if a guy can keep his engine alive, win races and championships with a blend of race gas and pump gas isn't he just blending a fuel that fits his need as VP did in your example while somewhat cutting out the middle man? It is possible to make almost any fuel blend run in a...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

Did you get a chance to reach out to your imaginary PhD chemist friend ? Yes, I did. Although he is retired, we often speak about technical issues (which you would never understand) and the lack of proper fuel information available to racers. The guys that developed and tested race fuels are now go...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

Following is a list of race fuels, all of which have very similar Octane Index numbers. However, the Sensitivity numbers indicate a wide range between RON and MON values. This indicates that although the Index numbers are similar, the fuels actually have quite different fuel octane numbers. The RVP ...

Re: Race Gas/Pump Gas mixtures

Is it EFI, Direct injection and have cam phasers?.. suburban and escalades have that compression and have an 8000lb tow capacity No, but it does have some useful hardware. It is a 32 valve, V8, VVT, knock sensors, lambda, timed port fuel injection, ECU, coil over plug ignition, chilled (or heated) ...
