Re: Race coil question

So it turns out the Standard Products TFI and HEI coils are Chinese and have a miserable reputation... I found a 45K TFI coil made by Pertronix. Says it's USA sourced... I will see soon.

Race coil question

I have an MSD Pro Billet dizzy for my SBM. It was used in the engine I bought a few years ago... dirt track modified at the time. Not sure of what coil was used but I like the Ford-style TFI coils. This week I made a mistake and ordered an MSD GM external HEI coil... I wanted another Ford style TFI....

Re: Assembly on engine stand distortion

I aways put a 2X4 under the front of the engine when storing a complete assembly on a ChiCom engine stand. I have a stand I built 35 years ago built from 2x3 .120 wall tubing. I put a bit of upward lean into the engine mount so the big block engine would be level if the stand flexes... FE Fords, 428...

Re: !970's Pro-Stock Camshaft Spec.'s

I bought a GK Ford Cleveland cam in a parts lot at the old Dave Dayton Indy swap meet in the early 80's. It was marked "Bob Gidden Pro-Stock" on the tag and came from a Ford ARCA team. I tried it in my dirt sportsman engine but the valve was too high and valves hit pistons. I sold it to a ...

Re: Fatal Mistakes....

12 years ago I drove down to southern Indiana to buy a '97 Ram short box. Had my buddies 18 year old son along for help Made a deal with the seller, gave it a quick inspection, my helper checked the oil, and we headed north for the 400 mile trip home. Got to I-94 and stopped for gas. I noticed the o...

Me and stainless bolts don't play well together. Too many galled threads. Cant imagine using stainless head bolts.

Re: mild 360 dodge buildup

One more thing with regards to the cracked magnum heads......... I have heard that when pressure tested, they don’t usually leak, and have seen where people have just installed seats in the non-leaking cracked heads and carried on. Depending on what machine shop costs are like in the area you live,...

Re: HOw much do shops charge to resize 8 HBEAMS?

IIRC I paid $125.00 to have my Mopar 340 rods resized last year. Then this year the same shop resized my Crower rods and opened up the small end from .927 to .984 for me. $200.00.
