Re: Purchased two cans of VP C-14+ racing gas
The motorcycle dyno shop I use wants customers using race fuels to bring unopened cans,. He has the equipment to check vapor pressure and finds it's often not to specification..I use C12 and it seems to smell different than in the past...But maybe I need to clean my nose..

Re: Was The XR750 Engine At Its Displacement Limit?
Ecta now is in Arkansas on an unused military runway, one mile I think the 1-1/2 mile track in Limestone Maine is the best paved track. There are east coast Bonneville racers there. Very low key but strict tech inspection. You will see moose in the distance..... There are no engine displacement check...

Re: Was The XR750 Engine At Its Displacement Limit?
I built this one 5 years ago for land speed racing. My 6 foot height shows how compactness of the build. Two 1956 650 engines on gas making a total of 110 rwhp, Harley 5 speed. The bike made several trial runs about 150 mph on the Maine track...My yonger frind who rides and paid for much of the buil...

497E0D1F-B109-4053-9AD1-ED0C8967AA4C.jpeg There was a Sportster in the 60s that was in the 200 mph club.....with one gear. From memory the rider's name was Warner Riley & the bike used 4th gear only. Had to slip the clutch to 110 mph... The SuperSportster was taken to England where it broke lap...

Re: Was The XR750 Engine At Its Displacement Limit?
The thing that surprised me the most was the speed accomplished with the low power level. I do land speed racing with bikes..Number of gear box speeds is not a factor..A naked frame bike can reach 160 mph with about 85 hp on a long track..A fully faired bike like the Harley on a long straight can c...

I worked as a construction electician and did some work in operating production plants and foundries...Yeah machining still warm blocks sounds silly but the guy who told the tale worked at a GM engine plant...But some people will say anthing..

Re: Stock and hopped Z-28 engines here..
I meant to say it sounds a bit suspicious that the blocks were being machined while still warm from the foundry.....

Re: Stock and hopped Z-28 engines here..
Meanwhile, while Studebaker going into the toilet the big tree were selling cars at a record pace.Think about that..In the day of the 302 Z28 I was told by GM workers that the engines still were a bit warm from casting when they started machining operation....sounds a bit suspicious but Chevy was bu...

Re: Plug fouling vs ignition voltage?
Isn't the real question why the plug fouled in the first place ? Sounds like a plug heat range issue or engine tune issue needs to be addressed unless you have some non conventional ignition system that you are questioning. Yes..and if its an electronic ignition it is recomended to short the plugs ...

Re: Stock and hopped Z-28 engines here..
keep the engine at stock displacement and build it with as many OEM lt1 parts as possible. One more time, the question is why built it at 302"? It will cost more and be slower than the larger displacement builds. No one looking at the outside can be impressed by what they can't see. Well, as a...

individual injector deactivation
Do any current production engines have the capability to turn off an injector if the ignition to the cylinder fails? I suppose it would require thermal sensors on each exhaust port....
