Re: Fake Melling oil pumps ?

The AERA just posted this on their facebook page and it is also on Melling's web site: COUNTERFEIT WARNING – – The rapid growth of e-commerce has created opportunity for domestic and international sellers to offer counterfeit products in the market. We have found counterfeit Melling products on mul...

Re: Did the SBC 406" die with BigJoe1 ??

We still miss Joe Sherman and seemingly he took his signature 406" with him when he left us. Today, I get guys wanting a nothing-special-strong-street-build and think I'm doing them a favor by offering one of the 400" blocks we've ratholed. They all look at me like I'm trying to screw the...

Re: 1994 350 TBI questions

Is there a way to tell if this thing has an aftermarket or tuner chip in it? The chip is only marked Delphi that I can see, but someone has clearly messed with the computer at some point. Is there a way to install, at least temporarily, a mechanical water temp gauge that won't affect the factory te...

What’s the sence to having this web site then? You assume nobody knows anything with your comments. Now what are you going to retaliate with calling others and myself know nothings? compression was lowered to 11:1 Who lowered the compression? How did they lower it, piston, chamber mods, thicker hea...

Re: Valve events what happens only one event is moved

When I spec cams with 115-120° LSAs, it blows people's minds. Well you've just blown DV. Not really. Yes David does like tighter LSA. While this engine is outside the range limits of the software, As the person who did the programming I was able to overrode some of those limits for this test. Stan ...

Talk to the engine builder before asking random people on the interweb their "Opinion"?

Re: Break in Oil

We never had any issues just using a non detergent oil and GM EOS. (GM EOS contains 5762ppm Zn, and 6221ppm P, or 0.6%. That means in a quart of EOS, you've got about 0.192 ounce of Zn and P. It's been well documented that a 0.10% to 0.12% concentration of Zn and P is optimal for flat-tappet engines...

Re: 377 SBC build

I think the best advice comes when it is clearly defined what constitutes “Just looking to get the most out of this motor” as that is quite subjective. Five hundred hp has been mentioned but is this predominantly street driven or looking to attain an et time or a bit of both? Sorry yes it is mostly...

Re: Prove it to me....Camshaft Gear Drive is a HP Killer

my personal experience with a Pete Jackson type was big fluctuations in timing and breaking the front main web out of my block on a 7000 rpm SBC. Front main web? Dang, that took some effort. Did the H balancer have a card in that game? Not sure but I didn't have that problem with the replacement bl...

Re: Quality engine components vs COST

Without getting into name calling etc. The cost of engine components today is the highest ever and the quality is going down. Crank snouts bent 4 degrees 8 degrees of runout, H beam rods with over .001 taper on the main bearing surface, and Cams/lifter wear issues. These are not cheap parts and the...

I will make another setup more like a flow bench so we can compare.
What depressions shall I do? 28 and 50?
I don't think many people here have a 50" bench.
Would the difference between the 2 be noticeable?
