Thanks again Joe! Talked to Tim Cole (wrote both names on the fax, he took the case) this morning, what a nice guy to talk to, lots of ideas with good explanations to back them up. He had suggested a 4/7 firing order swap, stating it was a no loss choice that is a little easier on the crank plus the...

Who is the best cam designer at COMP, SBC 23 degree stuff?

Planning a cam change from my too large 276/284 @ .050" Comp solid roller and want to bounce some ideas off him. I get good pricing through our buying group so that's why I'm going with Comp.

Who is the man to deal with?

Thanks!

For a laugh you should price replacement valves for those heads through your local GM dealer, you will crap yourself.

So how bad are the 347's?

What are the 347's like for oil consumption, piston noise, and overall engine life? (5.4" rod combo)

Big turbo, big injectors, no water-meth. Said that the fuel pressure dropped before it went and that he was spraying nos at the time...nitrous explosion in the cylinders? all 4 middle cylinders are trashed, block is crack outwards from the bore too. I'm curious how nitrous works in a diesel applica...

Looks like aftermarket rods there and jobber Mahle replacement pistons. With the cracked piston I would think over advanced pump timing would create this issue or perhaps excessive boost. The fire ring of the head gasket is pushed back so serious cylinder pressure lifted the head/pushed the gasket b...

That looks like a bunch of camshaft for a relatively low compression, low stall converter, high gear street 502, like about 30 degrees or more too big IMHO. If you were to step up to about a 4500 stall, then the Lunati 269/276 @ .050 solid roller cam becomes a decent selection.

How much?

So the big question, what did those heads cost the customer once they were finished, or rather what is retail pricing for those heads without the widened intake port and also with the widened port?

Thanks, and nice job BTW! Porting time?

If you E mail Dart they will reply in a couple of days with an excell sheet. If I recall correctly they hit 308/207 at .700" on a 4.155 bore.

part#063030 merlin single plain 4150 top We used the 4500 version of that intake when building a 509 for a customer. No sense going into the details but the engine was never that impressive. Fast forward to last winter. We build 2 565's, one for this customer using the AFR 357's he already had, big...

Which World Products intake do you have? This intake may well be the cork in the combo, I have personal experience here....

Thanks for the speedy reply Chris.

How about a total cost, it would seem that 5000 to 6000 would be required to put that top end on a shortblock, is that a pretty close guess?

Chris I see those heads are listed as being under $2000 RN, what is a typical cost of these heads once they are ready to bolt on? No titanium valves, just standard parts and whatever a basic CNC port job would add. Do these heads work with standard 23 degree pistons such as the domed wiseco pistons ...
