Re: Electric fuel pumps... pressure vs volume
Hiya, Roughly 6 lbs per gallon for gasoline. So gallons per hour, 40gph = 240lbs per hour divided by BSFC(brake specific fuel consumption .5 BSFC is a reasonable number) = a possibility of 480 fwhp. That is at free flow, pressure reduces the flow because it requires a restrictor to make pressure. Fl...

Re: Rod and main bearing replacement opinion
Hiya, If the bearings are perfect(check "wear" pattern) why not re-use them. The GM A bearings are very forgiving. Always keep in mind while you are using your dial bore gauge, it will indent the bearing a couple tenths or so. As best I can tell from the pictures those bearings are fine. K...

Re: Electric fuel pumps... pressure vs volume
The TBI regulator controls the pressure. The stock TBI pump maxes out around 15psi and is also pretty low volume. I always replace with the higher capacity(pressure and volume) vortec pump.

Hiya Wesman,
If the engine has an oil cooler, ether replace it or have it flushed in both directions. That easily could have killed the last engine.

Hiya,
With that stroke I wouldn't have a worry at your rpm. Shoot, we used to turn over 7000rpm with decent 3/8 bolts and heavy shot peen'd rods for years, never had one fail. I can't remember if the LS6 had 7/16. That was back in the day when an over 700 gram piston was the norm.

Hiya, Is this a new efi adventure? I just posted this on another site and it might be of value here. "Personally I would not waste another second until you have those injectors flow tested. I have two injector machines and trust nothing aftermarket anymore. Before the aftermarket started copyin...

Hiya,
You are correct in bigger is generally better.
What do you do in a 360 cu in rule? Anyway, this has been discussed ad nauseam.

Re: Spark plug heat range
Hi Tom, You could be correct. A 600hp 350 will probably be at a higher rpm than a 600hp 400, therefore, less time between combustion events for heat dissipation. From what I've seen, they both make the same cylinder pressure vs HP and it seems to me, they would both have plenty of heat dissipation. ...

Re: Spark plug heat range
Hiya, I have no criteria for what I generally do heat range wise, my experience is all I can share. I am usually on the safe side. To me it is all about cylinder pressure, combustion temperature, as well as time, not really about whatever engine. In a fairly controlled environment, ~600 hp = -6 ngk ...

Hiya,
While I realize you are trying on a learning path...you are forgetting temperature. Yes, piezo's and high speed transducers will aid in data acquisition.
Understanding all of the data you can grab is the rub.

Nice enough fella, I never tried any of the high radius roller replacements nor his V cut. It just looked to me like failure.
I do have a set of his 1" flat tappets that have been in several engines/classes over the last 20 years.
