Re: BBC Heads

Liberty heads look just like all the other china heads. There's a ton of them out there you can use, I would get them bare and add my own parts and get a good valve job done.

Re: Extending intake dividers

I have seen Larry Meaux weld up to an inch onto an intake runner divider. Is there any reason not to use 1/4 aluminum plate and weld that to the dividers instead? Then port and shape it accordingly? Thanks i've done it both those ways above , and a 3rd way just using Epoxy AB Sticks i prefer just T...

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?

I think porting has more to do with not the size of the port, but more with the quality of the port after porting. A few years ago I took a chance on porting my set of L-29 BBC heads, Why? because no one else has messed with them much and they intrigued me to try to port something different. I alrea...

Re: Inexpensive 350 Build

I know my recently acquired 1000hp has stepped booster from Holley. I have never had any luck with any 4781's I've ever used out of the box and my 4779 was quicker and faster then the last 4781 I tried. Even my 4780 800DP was better then the 4781, and the HP carburetors just seem to work better for ...

Re: Home ported sbc 441 heads

Finally got a good Saturday for a TNT the only problem was I screwed up loading the car into the trailer. Poked a hole in the side wall of the right side front tire. Backed the car out, dismounted the tire, put a patch in it, remount test held pressure overnight. Off to the track I go. Make a good ...

Re: SBC Valves - GMPP Vortec Heads

Those valves are pricey because like other have said, the intakes are hollow stem and the exhaust are sodium filled. When my brother was selling his LT-4 heads those had them valves in them. Some old dude wanted them for his street rod project but was unwilling to pay the high price due to the expen...

Re: Inexpensive 350 Build

Mark, I had trouble with my front disc brakes dragging on my Camaro years ago and rebuilt the calipers twice, no change. It wasn't until I talked with an old tech at work then he told me to get some rebuilt ones. I asked why and he was telling me that newly refurbished ones will retract the piston s...

Talk to Vortecpro, he makes 540 easy with junk truck Peanut Port heads, and no I'm not kidding look his stuff up, it's pretty impressive. Re: Inexpensive 350 Build

Thanks guys, Were hoping for a 6 sec run we will see soon, the car is ready. T 350 with a 2.74 low gear, 7.5 rear end with 4.56 gear. Converter is a ATI 8 inch. The engine didn't make much power, but it did carry the power from around 5200--6300 within a few HP, so maybe its alright, the question i...

Re: Summit CT-101 / Elgin 1091p

I've run the 1090 and 1091 Egin cams before and they both worked great. I think the both have the same duration but one has more lift then the other.
