Re: How centered does a piston pin need to be?
Is it 0.025/0.025" or 0.050/0.050" ? Either way, too much IMO ...... and can only get worse depending on how the rod is then centred on the piston when built up onto the big end Admittedly 'sweating' pins on can be a crap shoot, ideally you need fixturing to tweak the final position .........

Re: Scat I Beam Pro Comp 4340 rods
I have used them many times in "all out" racing engines up to 8,000 RPM but, with a shorter 3.81" stroke. That regular 8740 bolt should be fine for your application but, it will probably be at its max Walter I think I've managed to source a set of the Scat Pro Comp rods with the ARP ...

Re: DIY CNC-Valve seat cutting machine: Air-Cushion vs. Fixed spindle?
Now some informations: I am planning to rebuild about 4 engines a month and if it works out well, later more if possible. I am not a machinist, and i never have rebuild engines (only repaired without machines), but since 2017 i am very interested in machining and cnc. I have build 4 CNC machines I ...

Re: Valve stem off center.
How do you get a valve seal to work well with offset? The seal was a fairly compliant rubber type seal, not a harder 'plastic' type one, the amount of offset wasn't that great and, all things being considered, a real world decision was made to go with it related to the specific application, mild st...

Re: Valve stem off center.
OP ....... either the valve seat is concentric to the guide, within reason, or it's not I don't actually understand most of your post, despite reading it twice ..... the fact that it doesn't really register might suggest you may be overthinking it If the valve guide bore is not axially to print, as ...

Increasingly the ability to not understand the material limitations of what the designer is dealing with seem to come to the fore .......sjre wrote:I recently saw I think it was Billy Godbold who said it happens from fracturing under the surface hardness then it separates and flakes .

Re: Radius contact valve seats
No, I've never used them, as the evidence I've seen would indicate a 'flat' seat angle that exactly matches the valve angle is the best way to seal the valve, transfer heat, and flow air/fuel into and out of the chamber ..... in the majority of cases It would be a convenient way to seal up a valve/s...

Cheers Walter, much appreciated .....
Yes, I'm aware of the bolt issue
I'll see if it's possible to maybe scare a set up, with the better bolt, in the time frame I have

Re: Scat I Beam Pro Comp 4340 rods
SCAT sells more than 1 "I" beam type rod. Their Premium Pro Comp rod with ARP 2000 bolts is as strong as any of the lower priced "H" beams. That's the rod I'm asking about ...... not interested in the lower quality offerings ...... but generally stock is showing only with the AR...

Thanks, cost and clearance were the main drivers for asking
I'd looked at the upgraded bolt version, but couldn't find them in stock, and projected delivery to here would be a non-starter

ptuomov I flicked through the rules you posted and am still at a bit of a loss as to what suspension you're actually running Not claiming to be an expert by any means, but each responds to different set up as regards traction from a standing start My understanding is that you're generally happy wit...

Re: Crosskart Xtreme best center of gravity height?
Out of interest ..... and I have come across this site before ...... I flicked through the first article linked, and it states this : For a front wheel drive car, the front roll centre will generally be lower down than the rear roll centre. Also, for a rear wheel drive car the rear roll centre will ...

Re: What SBF head is this? 289hipo/302/hi-port iron hybrid
Look like common C8OE - x 2v 302 heads, I've several sets knocking hereabouts
Not even the 'best' of the 1968 302 heads, the 4v version has a smaller chamber
I doubt they've got cast in spring pockets, but obviously I could be all wrong about this .....
