Re: Cam events...seat vs .050 confusion
It's an asymmetrical cam. Most likely, the opening side of the lobes do not have a ramp on them to take up the .006" compression of the lifter. That makes the opening side shorter than the closing side. The lifter is moving so slow at .006", that any eccentricity in the base circle will gr...

Re: Local GM service center
Other then having to look at it, were you subjected to a sales pitch of horror stories prophesying failure & ruin, or magic stuff to add to the tank? Good Luck, Thank You for Everything! Exactly. "If you don't do X, Y, and Z, this is what your valve will look like, and that could destroy y...

Local GM service center
I took my truck in for service, and saw this on the counter.
Not too sure I want them working on anything of mine.

The GM 603 and 604 Crate engines have fuel pump eccentrics on their cams. The GM part# is 10185071
I think it's 211/220 @.050"

Re: Identifying Eaton or other brands of sbc drop in dog bone lifters
Buy from a reputable company with a solid reputation. That's easier said than done. If you google the actual GM part# of their LS7 lifters, you will find multiple companies selling lifters under that part#, but most of them are not the GM lifter. Many of these companies are well known parts supplie...

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters
In the lifter section Comp claims US made lifters, did this change are just false advertisement? https://www.compcams.com/pub/media/wysiwyg/CompCams/FlatTappetCamTechBulletin.pdf That's talking about Mechanical flat tappet lifters, and it was last revised 13 years ago(2010). Comp used to have their...

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters
How much spring pressure? What oil? What lift and duration? Mike do you think a DLC face coating would be a good idea on your flat tappet lifters? DLC coating on iron is not a good idea. Our mechanical flat tappet lifters work great, up to about 420# of spring pressure at max lift. Above that, we g...

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters
It’s a mild combo and I realize that’s a part of it begin alive and well. But that’s what the OP has as well. A mild street/strip combo. But anyways i like it and it pulls hard to redline. Hasn’t given me any problems and is of course mild enough to be used every day LS6 style beehive springs with ...

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters
How the hell do you even enforce that? So the solution is to buy a dozen blocks at a time and measure them all, and keep the best one for yourself or your “A customers”? If the lifter bores are bushed, it's illegal. You can't true the lifter bores without bushing them. Yes, it's one of the dumbest ...

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters
It seems to me one of the biggest variables that no one really measures, save for big $$ efforts, is lifter bore locations and their deviation from design. Yes, that's an issue, especially with more aggressive lobe designs. One thing that drives me nuts is that there are multiple racing series' tha...

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters
My mindset has always been, its good to have info about EVERYTHING that is available for our hobby, inferior product or not, that way other people who research the same product will have the info available to them. Not unverified info. False information can do a lot of harm. You come on here and ju...

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters
Why would anyone buy a cheap Chinese lifter that had a high failure rate, just because they put a cheap coating on the face of the lifters? It's still cheap Chinese iron, and it's still cheap Chinese machining. It's like playing Russian Roulette with 3 empty chambers, instead of just 2. I guess the...

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters
Comp doesn't have a lifter company in Michigan, or anywhere else.
They buy their lifters, and the foundry is not in the U.S.
There's nothing technical about spreading stories from another forum.
I will give this a day, to see if any members have any actual experience with these lifters.
